Dumbest dads

With Father Day around the corner, I notice in animated shows and movies, there are a lot of dumb and stupid dads. Lets list what we think are not so intelligent fathers.

Homer Simpson (The Simpsons)
Peter Griffen (Family Guy)
Mr. Turner (Fairly Odd Parents)
Billy's dad Harold (Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy)

I still don't say that Randy (South Park) is dumb, but rather easily caught up in something and overreactive. He starts out normal but once he rolls with something he gets stupid. Which is better then most of the other dads here anyway.

And now to continue to the list of Stupid dads.

Jack Fenton (Danny Phantom)
Mr. X (The X's)
Mr. Uno/Mr. Beatles/Mr. Lincoln (Kids Next Door)
Stan Smith (American Dad)
Dick Darling (The Replacements)

I wouldn't say that Stan Smith is dumb. An unbearable, pompous ass, but not really dumb.

Homer Simpson
Randy Marsh
The dad on Dexter's Lab
Mr. Neutron (Jimmy Neutron)
Peter Griffin
The list goes on...

You could make this a lot simpler and list all the TV dads who aren't total morons.

I'd say either Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin is the dumbest dad....

Randy Marsh(Stan's dad,South Park) can be dumb at times, but is more a hypochondriac than anything else....

Stan Smith can also be dumb at times...

Professor Utonium was dumb in that episode where Mojo disguises himself as a little girl. He couldn't see through Mojo's disguise, even though his daughters could.

Actually Jack Fenton can be smart sometimes.
I'd also like to exonerate Hugh Neutron. He may be a total goofball, but he really does care for Jimyy and would do anything for his son, unlike Mr. Turner.
It's a close contest, but I'm voting for Peter.

I'd say it fluctuates. In the early days, both Peter and Homer wanted to be good parents. It was later in both show's history that the writers just made them vehicles for self centered, gag filled adventures.

I am trying best to remember their names and spell them correctly. I always blamed him for Helga's rivalory or hatred of Olga. That one way (one way meaning only one was trying to compete with the other) rivalory is all because of him and his competiveness he installs in her by reminding Helga of Olga's past accomplishments and the importance of continue family tradition, and his neglete of Helga, caused her to resent her older sister.

I watched those episodes thinking to myself, Helga you are placing your resentment, hurt, angry towards the wrong person, it is really your father you should be mad at, not your sister.

Here's a few of the dumbest dads I know which some of them crack me up(like Billy's Dad/Randy:D ):

Homer Simpson(Simpsons)
Duckman(Duckman)
Peter Griffin(Family Guy)
Cow & Chicken's dad(C&C)
Goofy/Pete(Goof Troop)
Mr.Turner(FOP)
Billy's Dad(B&M)
Daria's dad(Daria)
Randy(South Park)
Mr.Fenton(Danny Phantom)
Todd & Riley's dad(The Replacements)
Genma(Ranma 1/2)
Ichigo's dad(Bleach)
Naota's dad(FLCL)
Shin-chan's dad(Shin-chan)

What did Cow & Chicken's dad ever do to make people think that he is dumb? He's no more insane than their mom. And anyway, their both just a couple of torsos without upper halves.

I also disagree with the choice of "Big Bob" Pataki. Bob is an obnoxious, annoying blowhard, but he's not dumb. He's self employed. That hardly qualifies him as stupid.

Look at something like the headhunters episode, where Mom and Dad are fine with the headhunters trying to cut off Chicken's head because they see it as the local culture. They are without a doubt insane which leads to dumb decisions. Another good example- they believe Chicken HAS to marry the girl who gave him his first kiss.

Not sure if that counts---since that's more an example of the cartoon cliche that most cartoon characters almost always fall for even the dumbest disguises that in real life, well, five-year-olds (like the PPGs) would see through, no matter how smart they are; one of the classic examples of this, of course, would be Superman's "disguise", which fools Pulitzer-winning reporters. As Bugs Bunny (the master of this cliche) himself expressed in the pilot for "Tiny Toon Adventures"... ;-)

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but how much (or how little) these guys care for their children isn't a measure of their intelligence, therefore it's irrelevant to this topic. You can be a dumb guy and still care for someone, it wouldn't make that person any less of a dufus.

True enough. I mean, Dale's wife regularly fools around with Johnny Red Corn, and they have a Native American looking son, and he doesn't suspect anything? If that's not dumb, I don't know what is.
