Dull pain in left side of pelvic region

Hello,

Over the last 3-5 days I have been having a strange, dull pain in the left side of my pelvic region. It is not constant and mostly happens when I am sitting down or lowering myself to sit down. It seems to occur randomly whilst sitting down though is constant while I am sitting on the toilet. It does not hurt to pee and there is no discomfort while peeing apart from this dull pain. I am female, 16 years old and sexually active. The pain seems to be in the where my left ovary is, though I can't say for sure. Over the last few days the pain has not gotten worse, though it does happen more frequently. I am worried it is something serious like an ectopic pregnancy though I do not know if my symptoms fit. An answer ASAP would be good as if it continues for another few days I plan to see a doctor. Thanks in advance. :)

Hi, my suggestion and I'm sure you'll have a few would be to check out Pudendal Neuralgia. I had it for years, because it's rare and most doctors don't know what it is, but recently I had surgery for it and it's fixed. Mine had gone on for so long that surgery may not be what you'd need if it's what you have. And it's not my intention to scare you or send you on a crazy hunt looking for something rare. It's just good to be aware of a variety of things early, in case all your tests come up showing nothing and your doctors are stumped.

Here is a list of my symptoms when it started:
-dull pain in what felt like the very center of the left side of my pelvis (it can be either side)
-no pain when urinating, but constipation added pain
-when I had my period, especially if it was heavy, more pain
-most people feel more pain when sitting, I felt more pain when standing in the same place and eventually with walking too

That's how it started for me and it did get gradually worse over time. This is a rare condition and only a handful of doctors know about it. Again, just giving you the option to be aware. Mine was caught 4 years later and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Other things to look into are Pelvic Congestion Syndrome, Piriformis Syndrome, Endometriosis, and things others mention to you as well. These were three things they suspected for me, but that I didn't have.

I hope you find the source of your pain and if you find yourself with more questions, please don't hesitate. Researching for yourself is as helpful as doctors are, I've learned.

I had similar pain that would come and go and eventually got worse so I went to the Doctor. She gave me an internal and said everything looked normal. She felt that it was probably muscular and told me to give it another week and if it hadn't improved she'd send me for an ultrasound. Well it did improve and completely went away a few days later, I still get short episodes of it (years later) but it doesn't last for long, so I guess she was right.
I also have pudendal neuralgia and my symptoms were entirely different to Scootmer's.
My symptoms were: one sided prickly sensation around anus and stinging pain from vulva to clitoris which was much worse when sitting. I'm very lucky to live about 45minutes drive from a world class Professor who specialises in this rare and very misdiagnosed condition. I diagnosed myself (most do) as most Doctors have never heard of it including mine. My daughter in law when she was just 4 weeks pregnant had pain around her ovary so went to the hospital fearing ectopic pregnancy but it turned out to be a cyst which resolved itself.
I guess it's always wise to have any symptoms that don't resolve themselves fairly quickly checked out

I know it has been a long time since then but I thought I'd post what it was in case someone is experiences this and wants the answer. Turns out it was a urinary tract infection. I'd had then before and so I did not expect it to be that because each time I get them they happen as a burn not an on-off ache. Just a short course of antibiotics and I'm good as new. Hope this helped and thanks for your replies everyone. :)
