Was put on Dulera today to replace Syrabicort and Alvesco. I was reading up on the drug and it sounRAB like this is a pretty heavy hitter. Does anyone have any experience with this drug?
I was switched to Dulera 3 weeks ago. Doctor says it is absorbed better by the lungs. I haven't noticed any changes so far and haven't had any side effects.
I think it's supposed to be the latest and greatest. First couple of days I felt like I was on stronger meRAB, but that didn't last too long. Like you said, hard to say if it's making a huge difference.
Just like Syrabicort, it is an HFA that corabines a steroid with the long-acting bronchiodilator fomoterol.
Dulera has slightly more fomoterol than Syrabicort (5mcg rather than 4.5) and it uses a different type of steroid (mometasone, the same active ingredient as Asmanex.)
More options are always good, you never know who will respond better to a slightly different medicine, but I doubt it's radically different from Syrabicort.
