Hey all new guy here, just bought a 2000 900 SS last night. Seems to be a great bike can anyone tell me the pros and cons of this model. Also is the dry clutch supposed to be that noisey last owner said it was normal. Thanks..

Congratulations on your new Duc!

The dry clutch is noisy by design. "Loud clutches save lives."

Pros: Great styling, great handling, great breaks.

Cons: The 900ss is air-cooled, 2 valve/head design. That means less power than the water-cooled, 4 valve superbikes.

BTW, people say the 900 is a great track bike. Enjoy.

I have a 96 900 SS CR with 32K miles on it It is a great bike with a few idiosynchrisies beside the rattlely clutch. the very limited fork lock travel can catch newbies by surprise when handling the bike at low speeds resulting in either a very firm foot plant or worse, a face plant.

New question, just listened to a guys 900 on you tube where he punched out the mufflers almost sounded like a harley real beffy and good..But didnt he screw up performance..
