Ducati Monster Starter Relay Problem?

Hey everyone! I asked this a bit ago, but have updated news:

So I bought a really cheap Ducati Monster 750 for like 2 grand. I live in Seattle, so I didn't turn it over for quite some time. When a sunny day came up, I tried to start it up, but just got clicks and chugs. The battery seemed in bad bad shape. I tried to jump it, but in the end, no luck. You could tell the battery was dieing. Finally, the clicking stopped. The battery wasn't completely dead (though just about there. Lights dimming, etc), but the starter just stopped trying.

I put in a new battery, and everything lights up great. Though still no clicking when I try to start it. Nada. You guys recommended I try to pop the clutch and bump start it. I tried it and it worked! Ran great. Do you think most likely it has something to do with the starter relay? I want to try my best to figure this out on my own, so I don't have to wait a few weeks at a mechanic. Plus, I'm quite short on moolah!

Thanks everyone for the help!

It could be the starter button itself or the starter relay.Like I said before on a previous post-take a set of jumper cables, hook them on your battery-turn the switch on and touch the red lead(don't worry about the black the starter is grounded) to the starter post and if it takes off that only leaves one other choice, the starter relay.
