Ducati happy with Hayden

Joel,

I only jump into this discussion when somebody, (usually an American!), starts with, "Hayden got a raw deal from Honda!," or, "Pedrossa was their, 'Golden Boy,' 'cause Respol is a Spanish company!," or, "HRC built the Honda around Pedrossa and didn't care about Hayden!," or, "HRC didn't give Hayden that which is due to a World Champ!," blah, blah, blah.

That is such a tired saw! Let it go already.

Look, Hayden is a great rider. One of the best in the World. He's just not one of the top three right now. He's in the second group, along with Edwards and Hopper and a few others. IMO, changing bikes won't change that. No matter what bike you put him on, Hayden ain't as fast as Stoner and Pedrossa and Poojabber. That doesn't mean he sucks. But I think Hayden fans do him a disservice when they blame his second-tier performance on Honda. I never heard Hayden blame Honda or HRC or Repsol for his failure to excel; only his fans make those excuses. I bet Hayden is embarrassed by all those excuses.

Don't get me wrong, I"m a Ducati fan, through and through. And since Hayden now rides for Ducati, I'll root for him. Christ, I'd even root for Poojabber if he rode a Duc! But I don't think Hayden is gonna be faster than Stoner on the GP9. And if he's not, are we gonna have to listen to another year of Hayden fans whining about how Ducati Corse did Hayden wrong, or are you all gonna man up,and realize he's just not as fast?

Back to the original article so you whining girls will have
more to whine about.

"Hayden, who was fastest of all on the wet second day of the shortened test at the Spanish track, impressed the team with his bravery and his swift integration with the engineers."

"He certainly is very brave," Preziosi told Italian newspaper Gazetta dello Sport. "With the telemetry you can see that in certain situations the bike wobbles in a scary way, even more than with [Casey] Stoner, but he doesn't get off the gas.
"I think we've made a good choice."

And there you have it,

Ducati is happy with Hayden doesn't matter what

Tom or Elton think.

i think Hayden got a bit of a shit sandwich from HRC this past year... and i hope he goes fast on the GP9 this year...
but, just stop and think what would have happened if Casey was at the back of the field this year & Melandri at the front, or Lorenzo & Rossi??
who would the team give a few priorities to? i think it happens the same way in every team no matter what, always a bit of favouritism... no doubt Puig was waving a big stick behind Pedrobot, but i think there's money & power there somewhere, whether it be with Repsol, or the power of puig...

anyway, hope they all go bloody fast this next year and kick poojabbers arse...

Hayden is humble and has a good heart. Anyone that can be called MotoGP champ, well that says it all whether it is this year or two years ago.

Good luck to him and Ducati. It should be another great season of racing, can't wait!

It's crap saying this is a biased US forum. Has anyone been treated any different because they're from somewhere else? That's a copout.

Bottom line is some people like to stir up issues that aren't there.

The thread is titled "Ducati happy with Hayden" not "Let's complain about who is faster on what bike" or "Let's argue for arguing sake".

Just my 2 cents...

This thread did take a weird turn. I never said anybody was faster than anyone else. Just that I was happy Hayden got away from HRC, I really felt like he wasn't getting the attention Pedrosa was. I didn't see Pedrosa run out of gas with 100 yards to go to a podium finish this season.

DU-CAT-I,

You're kidding, right? Do you have any knowledge about how fuel delivery is regulated on a motogp bike?
Are you suggesting that HRC gave Hayden less gas than Pedrossa so Hayden would run out of gas?!

Running out of gas has everything to do with the pilot, (Hayden), and how he rides the bike. It has nothing to do with Honda. Every rider starts with enough fuel to make it to the finish line. It's up to the pilot to ride in such a way that he doesn't use excessive fuel.

Hayden running out of gas is on him. He'd be the first to say so. I bet he'd be embarrassed to hear all the, "It's HRC's fault," excuses his fans make on his behalf.
