1198S has better suspension (Ohlins instead of Showa) and is about 4 pound lighter due to lighter wheels, lighter brakes, and a carbon fiber front fender. The 1198S also has the Ducati Data Analysis (for track time) and Ducati Traction Control as standard equipment. Lastly, the 1198S is about $5300 more than the 1198.
