What is everyone's problem with English Dubbed I see everyone on youtube commenting on how they hate the dub, how it's better in Japan, and how the dub is annoying one of the worse offenders is Sailor Moon, this was the height of my childhood I loved their voices aside from the switches by clover. When getting kids to watch good Anime they don't want to read subtitles they just want cool action and be able to hear and emulate it, it's fun to hear america's take on popular stuff, and most uncut anime is too out there for parents to allow their children and they want to take away their innocence. I watched PPG Z in U.S. the voices are great aside from Bubbles :sweat: and people talked about when the boys peed on the crowd in japan and didn't show it america and I'm like you guys really would want you children watching this what are your opinions.

Obvious, they are weaboos. Japan lovers, who can't stand when Neo is translated as New. You get the idea. They want all things Japanese, and actually want to move to Japan, but if they did, they would surely realize anime fans are about 15% of the poulation, and they would be the same as here in America, where it is about 8 or 9%. (% are my guess, but both are low)

Dub Haters/ Sub Elitests are one of many parts of the net that cause needless conflict & are unneedlesly rude.
& as said befoe there weaboos' or as i like to call them "The Wanna be japanese" People for some reason think Dubs are evil & then everything Japanese is superior to every other country....Yea, there all most scary as Twilight fans..

Now come on. Preferring an anime in subs does not make somebody a weaboo. I'm not obsessed with Japanese culture, and in fact I have no want to live there at all. It's pretty far down the list of where I'd want to visit, as well. (Truth is I have not much of a want to visit there either.)
But there are plenty of cases where the sub is just much better than the dub. Look at the 4Kids version of One Piece. Now, honestly, is somebody really a weaboo for preferring the Japanese subbed One Piece, to the 4Kids butcher of it?
I personally have plenty of cases where I find the dub to be good, even if I still do not think it's better than the sub. FUNimation's dub of One Piece for one. I may not prefer it to the subbed version (the Japanese cast is just too amazing.), but I still think it's a good dub. And then there's Trigun, where I actually prefer the dub. I just can't think of Vash as anybody other than Johnny Yong Bosch.

You aren't a (insert word from before) because you commented on what I said in a rational way. 4kids is the exception of course, but some still hate Funimation OP, and Viz Bleach, just because, it is in ENGLISH.

Well if we talk about dubs in general, it is not needed. We can discuess dubs from cartoons in others, like Winx Club and Code Lyoko.
I think this topic can stay in this subforum.
The reason is, I like watching a lot of European animated movies, including "Die Furchtlosen Vier" "Felidae" and "Jungledyret Hugo" (If you have never seen these I highly recommend them). The English dubs are sometimes not terrible but when you compare them to the original language, the original language is always infinitely better. It is just the way things are. Sometimes in the English dubs a lot of good jokes or important lines are left out because saying it in English would not fit the mouthing of the characters; and usually there is not always a big effort to make a good dub, which is probably why when compared to the original language is not as good.

Naturally, as they still do today, television executives presumed the audience is full of idiots, unwilling or incapable of reading subtitled dialogue. Also, with cultural references and censorship standards being very different in Japan from elsewhere in the world, substantial changes to dialogue and visual content were made to make them acceptable for over the air broadcast to children.
Speed Racer and Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion were among the earliest of these victims, and continued with such things as Battle of the Planets, Star Blazers, Voltron, and Robotech.
It was not until the late 1980s that unexpurgated anime became widely available on the US home video market, but due to the limitations of the technology dubbed and subtitled versions were sold separately, dubs outselling subs often 20 to 1.

It really all comes down to what people like. I like watching a lot of anime dubbed and some anime subbed.
The thing that annoys me is how most of the people who like watching anime in Japanese bashes ANY English dub or say that a dub is emotionless or something or make bias opinions.
Just because a few or a lot of "subbies" may hate and like to verbally bash a dub just because it's not Japanese doesn't mean it's bad.

I prefer watching Miyazaki films dubbed as oppossed to subbed.

That said, for live-action movies, I prefer subbing, due to the lip-synch issues, but most Japanese animation I've seen tends to animate the mouths first, then record the dialogue, so it's essentially getting "dubbed" in it's original language! :shrug: Plus, the mouth movements rarely match the spoken dialogue even in Japanese.

In many cases I actually prefer watching the show dubbed. Take Cowboy Bebop, for example. I find the dub to be much better than the sub. The English VAs are all perfect.
