Dual Core qHD Phone Options?

I'm looking for a dual core, qHD, 4G Android phone, not on TMobile. Rootable would be nice too. I would be plenty happy with the Sensation, but TMo's data speeds in Las Vegas are flat out broken (1.7Mbps 4G, 300Kbps 3G) and I can't even get 3G reception in certain key areas. I feel like I'm getting ripped off with the EVO 3D with the 3d gimmick, inferior construction, inferior screen quality and awful battery life. I'm not even thrilled about Spring as their 4G is mediocre HSPA+ at best, but I can get really good rate plans through them so I will entertain the idea.

What are my current options and what's coming out soon? I'm almost leaning toward the Galaxy S 2 anyway even though it's not qHD (grrrrr).

I actually always hated Samsung mobiles too, but that was pre-smartphone and haven't tried them since. On paper everything sounds good, and if you can root them (unlike motos?) then who cares about their trash interface?

Those requirements don't give much of a choice --- either Motorola Photon or Atrix. And both these phones are kissing twins, so this is more of a carrier choice between AT&T or Sprint. Do note the Photon has a bigger screen than the Atrix but the Atrix has a bigger battery over the Photon. The Photon likely to impress more on the screen, while the Atrix for the battery life. Both got bigger batteries than HTC equivalents.

I would still pick the SGS2 above all, but note, part of the SGS2's incredible performance has something to do with the WVGA resolution having 35% less overhead driving bits around compared to qHD. Screen lag and frame rate drop is directly related to resolution because it simply means more work for the phone's GPU.
