I have some tips that worked for me. I am a 28 year old man and the following tips really helped when I have acne and break outs.
Just to let you know there is no 100% way to get rid of 'acne'. Some people have genetic disposition to it, some people have to greasy or to dry of skin But you can cut down on irritation and redness.
1. Clean your pillow or sheets, what ever your face would be touching the most at night when you sleep. When you sleep you drool, shed skin and dander and it's a breeding grown for bacteria, mold and other micro organisms than can cause skin irritation or acne.
2. Wash your hands. Believe it or not, you touch your face a lot subconsciously. When you open a door, pick something up off the ground, or shake hands, you pick up a lot of bacteria and other nasty stuff. If your skin is already irritated and you touch it with your hands you are just transferring crud from your hands to your face.
3. If you have long hair, wash it and try not to use any conditioner that leaves behind a residue. Also don't use leave in conditioners.
4. Don't wash your face with soap and then dry it off. The abrasives in soap takes a small layer of skin off; can cause irritation and also drys it out too.
5. Don't use alcohol, it may kill bacteria but it will dry your skin out as well and cause irritation too.
6.The best way to getting rid of acne around the mouth is: not eating greasy foods, avoid licking lips, avoid touching mouth area (like i said earlier, you do it subconsciously, so wash your hands a lot), stay away from lip balms, makeup with oily residues, and anything you might be doing like biting your nails, again hands are not the cleanest of places.
Dry & Oily Skin:
When your skin drys out all the stuff that you come into contact with after wards can get into your pours and cause irritation and small blemish's. "Normal" skin usually has a light coat of natural oil. but if your skin is to dry that thin coat is gone that protects your pours from getting nasty stuff in there. It you have to oily or grease of skin then problem is reversed, now you have to much oil on your skin which can trap nasty stuff and be a breading ground for bacteria and other pour clogging elements, which if not treated (i.e. washed, cleaned) can cause break out and irritation.
Essentially Proactive is a self balancing salve, oil, cream that makes your skin not an ideal place for bacteria and irritants
Washing Your Face:
When you do want to wash your face, use hot to warm water at first. Rinse your face with it for a little. This will open up your pours. Now you can scab you face with soap, face scrubbers stuff or what have you. After that use warm water to rinse everything off. For treatment after, natural aloe straight from a plant will do wonders for your skin after washing it. You don't need to cover your face with a thick layer. Just use enough for a thin layer this is so your skin doesn't dry out. The are some expensive face stuff that you can buy and put on after washing, but the first ingredient is usually aloe, some sort of vegetable or plant oil and stearic acid (I am dead serious, go to the store and look at the face skin care area). You can use those but stay away with any that contain alcohol. I am a Man and after I shave and wash my face I put this stuff called "Burt's Bees" (It may be expensive or cheap, it was a christmas gift). It works great, the first Ingredients are water, sunflower oil, vegetable oil, coconut oil and aloe I have overly greasy skin and had an acne problem too.
I may have gotten off point, but the main thing here is to get all the soap off and put something good for your skin on, and like i said you don't need a lot. A small coat works great. So, you don't need to carry an aloe leave where ever you go or buy expensive faces creams, just try out the things I listed and I am sure your acne will clear up in a matter of days.
Hope this helps.
