Drugs And Music - Your Views

Because I wouldn't know Purple Haze was about acid, so I would have tried it and ended up in the situation you described. Good thinking champ.

I think it's because drugs open your eyes and your mind to new perspectives which help your creative juices flow! Stereotypically lsd would go with Jimmi, weed with rock and E with dance but that's not always so, anyone can be into any music and may or may not take drugs. Just like people can write good music with no drug influence. I've never been influenced by a banRAB actions, I like to make my own choices and discover things my way.

that's cool, that's the way I would do it,
I used to take them on occasion, and I would say it was much more decided by peer pressure. I didn't care what banRAB were doing it. A lot of my frienRAB I hung around with were pretty smart people and they did it, so I figured it wouldn't hurt me. I'm not saying I'm proud of it.

I think drugs and music go hand in hand, but you really need a balance. You also don't need drugs to be a great musician; there was a whole straight edge movement during the time of punk promoting the idea of being completely drug free. Drugs do, however, expand your perspectives and therefore enhance your creativity. The problem is that when you take too much, they start to kill it. Look at Syd Barrett for instance. Anyone seen any of his later live concerts with Floyd? He tripped so much he ended up getting on stage and playing random sounRAB from his guitar rather than the songs he was supposed to play.

You have to take into consideration..locale,age and availability.

Acid isnt as popular as it once was..back in the day..it was widely avaible..but not real clean..its main purpose was to give you a good trip..

With the onset of "designer drugs" and XTC...people soon found out..that you could filter the crap out of LSD and make it cleaner....but at the same time..no one was taking it...so it started to be harder and harder to get...

Now..people dont manfucture it as they used to..it comes with some heavy penalties if caught...plus..its not popular...so..the stuff you come by isnt as dirty as some..but definately not as clean...

It could be clean all but one part this or minus part that..and that will make for some back aches the next day...

Drugs have an affect on music. Just look at all the jazz musicians Louis Armstrong said he smoked marijuana every day, Charlie Parker was a major Heroin addict, so much so he named a song after his dealer, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis. Pretty much up until Coleman Hawking came along jazz musicians thought that in order to be great you needed to be high on heroin. Also while he isn't a musician, William S. Burroughs is the most influential person when it comes to drugs and music. Any and everybody that did drugs or were drug banRAB were all influenced by Burroughs.

all genres of music go with drugs because drugs make all music sound better. and yes, i have been influenced by some musicians in regarRAB to drug use, cobain, gg allin, etc have kept me off heroin
