According to an article in today's London Evening Standard people claiming unemployment benefits will be questioned about their drug use and drug tested. Those who refuse will have their benefits halted for up to 26 weeks. Those who test positive could be forced into rehab.
Welfare payments in the UK are out of control and are creating a sub-culture of unemployable layabouts. Is this a step in the right direction? Would you like to see the unemployed forced to work in the public sector, eg: cleaning, park-keeping, maintenance, etc in return for their keep.
