Drove out of my calling area

I have a ppc6700 flashed to cricket. It's a really good Rom and phone. I love the cricket service. I drove out of the calling area and recently updated the PRL OTA, but I wasn't able to get signal in a Cricket Roaming area. Is that because I don't have any Roaming options on my plan or was it something else?

My calling area is San Antonio and went south to Beeville and Corpus Christi, 78221 is the zip in my area. I think Beeville and CC are in the roaming area, any thoughts?

what prl do you get when you OTA at home. if you have roaming enabled on your account you should get something like 5044.

if you don't you'll get 1040 which is the basic cricket prl.

ALSO BE SURE TO *228 THE PHONE BEFORE YOU LEAVE YOUR HOME AREA....

There is so many times when i get a customer calling me because they couldnt roam for the simply fact that CRICKET REPS ARE TELLING CUSTOMERS WHEN YOU LEAVE *228 THE PHONE
people are taking this as when they dont have coverge from cricket but from verizon to *228 the phone.....

I have 1040. I just checked it out right now by dialing ##778. And going to the PRL dropdown, but PRL Capability ( Default Roaming ) is set to 1. If I edit to 0 and go back and *228 will it update to raoming or can someone give me the roaming PRL??

as has been said more then once
1039 and 1040 are the nationwide PRL's that are for plans without roaming or the travel time add-on.

ROAMING ACCESS PRLS ARE AREA SPECIFIC. And are only updated to the phone with a 228 update IF you have a roaming plan or travel time.
