have an HTC DESIRE and am wondering what your overnight drop in battery power is.

on a typical night my power drops 20-30%. is that normal?
when the screen goes black does LIVE WALLPAPER and other apps stop working?

just now i installed that super mario bros live wallpaper and noticed 15% drop in 2 hours. WTF?

like everyone i want to get the most out of battery life, any tips?

I keep mine on 3G and bluetooth enabled and only drop about 10 percent overnight. The live wallpapers look nice but most will eat the battery no matter what the dev says.

Apps, including live wallpapers, only do anything if they're visible. The only exception to this are services (such as things that can run in the background all the time like playing MP3s, checking email, etc). If the screen is off they won't be running in the background, and the phone will likely go into sleep mode until something is triggered to run at a scheduled time.

I always wonder why people don't charge their phones overnight. It's the most ideal time because you won't be using it while you're asleep (or do humans dream of electric Androids?). And that way you're pretty certain, depending on your use, to have enough battery to last the entire day.

I always leave my phone on the dock and use it as an alarm clock at night. Problem solved while retaining functionality.

Ah, my bad.

Well some more tips then...

Use an app like Toggle Settings, where you can make profiles (settings for different situations), and change the Nighttime profile to turn as much stuff off as possible - WiFi, 2G only, screen lowest brightness, etc. If you have voicemail, maybe turn the phone off overnight?

You can also get various types of chargers and emergency battery supplies. I use one that takes a single AA battery and can charge my battery via USB in a couple of hours to around 90%. You can get ones that are solar powered, ones that are hand powered (you wind them up, literally), and ones that are like a big battery that can hold about 10 phone charges.

haha, i wish i had a tent that IS a giant solar cell

i have a solar panel and battery too as i often go out for weeks on end. will give those tips a try, especially that TOGGLE SETTINGS, thanks!
