DRIVING FROM ANCHORAGE TO VANCOUVER WA ON OCT 6TH 2008 IN A 2004 JEEP WRANGLER

ANYTHING I SHOULD KNOW? WE WILL BE LEAVING ON OCT 6TH @ 4AM FROM ANCHORAGE AND I HAVE A BUNCH OF QUESTIONS.. WHAT CAN I EXPECT WITH THE WEATHER? DO I HAVE TO BRING GAS? I DONT HAVE A OUTSIDE RACK SO I DONT HAVE A PLACE TO KEEP GAS CANS? IS IT THAT BAD?? ANYTHING ANYONE CAN TELL ME WILL HELP OUT I WANT TO BE SAFE AND ITS MY GIRLFRIEND OUR 8 YEAR OLD AND I THAT WILL BE GOING. THANKS JOSH [email protected]
 
be careful- make sure you have a cell phone car plug in. bring food and water- enough in a cooler in case you get stranded - of course a map - blankets and warm winter snow suits if your in a snowy area- a good woman (j/k)and some seriously good road trippin music - be safe and enjoy your ride! Also take the car in for a complete body check over - it should be free or cheap- check the tires (make sure one on back is good 2) bring a generator and jumpers and you can buy a boook of games to play on raod trips with your 8 year old
 
Check-in at designated stops with family using your cell or public phone. If they know that in 4 hours you will stop at city X they will be able to get help if you don't call them and tell the authorities approximate locations! Continue until your destination.

Also, stay away from junk food. You'll feel so much better if you drink lots of water and snack on fruit/veggies/cheese, etc.

One more thing...I know that Anchorage is remote, but you might take comfort in knowing that there's a wal-mart like every 10 miles anywhere you go (or so it seems).
 
I would have the jeep tires checked, oil change and a tune up. I would have lots of change and dollars for any toll roads. Carry some water and snacks with you. If you are low on gas 1/2 tank and you see a gas station, stop a fill up. Take regular breaks and walk around. The weather could be anything. Go to the weather channel for the areas you will be passing through and get the forecast. Have your trip mapped out for you, so you will know what exits to take to get to the right interstate or highways you need. I would even go on the internet and try to get the state troopers numbers in case of an emergency. I would also take pillows and blankets so you or your passengers can sleep. And last but not least, you should be very careful on your gas. Since I am not from that area, I don't know how remote between towns can be. So you might want to rent something for the top of your jeep. Good luck! Drive careful not tired! And happy trials. Take your camera!
