I just bought an old willys, it has a t18 tranny w/ a dana 18 transfer case. In the front driveshaft there is a loud knocking noise towards the transfer case (not sure if it is internal or not) But anyhow I took off the drive shaft which eliminated the knocking, put new u joints on...... that did not cure the problem. The previous owner said he thought it was the front output bearing, but really I do not take his word for much and it does not sound like a bearing issue. now there is a t case drop on it..... but he made a home made bracket (which is a joke). But anyhow is there a chance that it is simply a need to drop the angle/get a slip yoke eliminator..... or could it be the bearing??
