Drivers License Suspended.

AWESOME. So my license has been suspended from May 4th, to june 4th. Pretty much screwed up everything I had going on that month, and I yet to have figure out how I will be making it to work.

To add ontop of this, it will probably get extended another 5 months, seeing as I got ANOTHER ticket the day before my birthday.. If I got it after, or the day of, there would be no problem.. 3 tickets at the age of 16 = 6 month suspension..

Oh, and my insurance will be going up as well.. They might even drop me, I have yet to find out.

This little ordeal is just one drop of the pile of shit my life is sitting on. Right when I thought it couldn't get any worse. :mfinger:

First two tickets were "following too closely.." Two fender benders that didn't amount to SHIT. BOTH cops said there was no need to call them in both situations as the damage was as minimal as fucking possible. But they had to issue a ticket anyways.

3rd ticket, I was coasting my car down the hill with the engine off, to save gas of course. Cop said I was going 62 in a 55..

All 3 were BS, and I'm royally pissed about it.

Did you go to court and try to beat any of them? If not then why are you so pissed? Tickets are easier to get out of than you think.

I went to court for an 80 in a 65 ticket and the cop didn't even show. State failed to meet its burden of proof == ticket dropped, nothing went on my driving record. That was like 2 months after I got my license (I was a reckless little shit back then). I have a buddy that's beat two speeding tickets. One because the cop gave him the wrong copy of the ticket, which caused it to be thrown out on some stupid technicality, another because the cop didn't show up in court.

Cops have better things to do than go to court for trivial bullshit like that. You might not have beat the accident tickets, but you might have beat the speeding ticket if you had gone to court.

I don't suppose you're going to try to fight the suspension either? Go to court, at least talk to the judge. They're not all worthless pricks, a lot of them will work with you. They were young once too, and they know that kids make mistakes.

Don't let the state/city/county have you whipped to the point where you won't challenge anything. The court system is there for a reason, do everything you can to make it work for you.

A lot of times if you just go down and talk to the DA before your court date you can get it fixed or reduced. You can offer them your time as collateral. Tell them you'll work the ticket off your record by going to defensive driving school or volunteering at your local homeless shelter. Make sure they know you realize you made a mistake and don't want to get off scott free but feel as though a more fitting penalty would be to help out the state in some way other than monetarily.

Also... as was mentioned above... if you have the time to fight the ticket... do it... whats the harm? Court costs are included in the ticket anyway (at least in my state they are). So go there and try to fight it. When and if you're found guilty (hopefully innocent though) you can offer the above choices as an alternative.

edit:

Quit being such a slacker.
