Car is mandatory here for employment. The nearest business is 15 miles in either direction from where I live. There's not even a McDonald's within 30 miles. Good thing I have transportation.
 
Illinois is fucking retarded. They just passed a new law that requires 90 FUCKING hours of driving with your parents. 30 hours classroom time. 8 Behind the Wheel. 9 months minimum having your permit. A STARTER LICENSE for 9 months after you turn 16. Which you can only have one friend in the car. Then you can get your regular license. If you get 2 tickets of any kind while you have your starter license or permit you lose your license/permit until you're 18. Etc, Etc, more bullshit.

Before this it was 50 hours with your parents, same classroom and BTW, and none of that other bullshit.
 
There are laws in Ohio now, that if you are 17 or under, you may only have 1 other person in the car that isn't related to you. Also, x < 17, may not be on the roads between like 12 Midnight and 5 AM. Those are violations. Fucking stupid. I can understand the "safety hazards of unexperienced drivers", but for fucks sake.
