Drivers Ed is Fucking Bullshit.

Ok, picture this. The State of Ohio mandates that for a person between the ages of 16 and 18, he/she must take 24 hours of classroom education, and 8 hours of behind the wheel training minimum. That's fine.

Drivers ed cost anywhere from 300-500 bucks for that educational criteria. It's expensive, but I can get past that.

When I paid them the 300 dollars to begin classes, it was on lesson 2 of 8. They said nothing about any of the following.

Come to find out, i have to have all 7 classes in before I can take the eighth. Which is fucking gay. I began on 2, and went for 3, and 4. on lesson 4, we had a test over the first 4 sections. I PASSED IT 100%. I didn't even take the lesson, and I aced that shit. Why the FUCK do I have to take a lesson that I already aced a test on?

Worst part of it all is, I have to wait till the next class is for lesson 1, which would be this upcoming Monday. Which is acceptable. FUCK NO. The bitch canceled all classes for labor day week. so I have to wait till the following week to take lesson 1. THEN, I have to wait till the week AFTER that to take my lesson 8 and final exam. Then i can schedule my driving...WHICH IS DELAYED 6-8 WEEKS. I'll be driving with the instructor AT THE END OF FUCKING OCTOBER.

This is fucking stupid. I hate it. I can't have a job, as I have no transportation. So I'm doomed to bankruptcy until like fucking Thanksgiving.

Not having a car is no reason not to have a job. Ride the fucking bus. But I understand your situation as the state of Maryland requires 30 hours of class time, 60 hours of driving w/parents (10 at night) and 6 hrs. of driving w/an instructor. I missed the 6th day and had to wait two weeks until I could go on to do the actual driving. There was no delay with the driving lessons though. But by time December rolls around you'll forget about all of that bullshit and will be happy that you are driving.

It can be. It depends on the area he lives in. I live out in the middle of fucking nowhere, no public transportation or anything.

On topic: Did you really expect to be able to skip a lesson and be fine? But holy shit your guys' driving laws are fucking insane. Here we just need like 20 hours day time and 6 at night with your parents. Then they sign off that they actually took you out for that amount of time.

I was 18 when I got my license. Before that, I had a job that I walked to.

I never had to take driving tests. I was given a lesson or two on a stick shift in a giant parking lot, and the rest were given by my aggressively driving friend.

I wrecked my first car before I got my license by backing into a pole. I have backed into SO MANY poles it's not even funny. By the time I left Houston, my first car was trashed. I ripped the front bumper off on a parking lot pole. The lights and wires were hanging down. My AC didn't work anymore and my windshield wipers turned on randomly. I just left it in Houston when I moved.

My second car, I totaled, hitting a concrete pole in a Denny's parking lot head-on. I was going 30-40 mph. First time I didn't BACK INTO a pole. It was horrible. My best friend wasn't wearing her seatbelt, and she hit the windshield with her head. Blood, glass, airbag burn... it sucked.

My third car, I totaled running a red light whilst daydreaming. The first time I've ever hit another car and not a pole.

Point is: Shut the fuck up and take those lessons, brat. Be happy that it's a requirement and that you have the money to pay for them.

Lesson: Look behind you while backing out of a parking spot, daydreaming and red lights do NOT mix.

I can understand why they want you to take all 7 classes before you take the 8th. You might have just been lucky on the test. Anyway, I've driven in Ohio and for the most part, it scares the SHIT outta me. Driving in Ohio is shit and I hope to never have to again.

I agree with the funny one about not having to have a car or liscence to get a job. I don't have a car and I got a job. Get one within walking distance of school and then, if you have to, take the bus or arrange for someone to pick you up. It's not impossible. I think you'll find that it's harder for a 16 yr old to get a job in a floundering economy.

It is kind of like that back in Texas. The classroom is boring as hell but oh well, it will save on your insurance somewhat (or should). What is really queer are in car lessons where the instructor is a total dipfuck. GOD I could tell you some stories about that, but I won't.

they require you take drivers ed??? sounds kind of cartellish to me.. Especially if the state gets no financial benifit from it.. State in private company pocket.. I mean thats what the written and driving exams are for at the DMV. You gotta pay to take the written exam and get your permit. Then you gotta pay to take your driving exam.. then pay for your license.. pay for your plates if you got your own car. Then they want you to shell out 300-500 dollars to some company just to get the right to take these tests? fags..

Ohio's driving Ed standards fucking suck. I got mine done the first 2 week of August, with my driving times in October. It fucking sucks, and its boring as all fuck.

Plus, its 99% common sense.

It's a good excuse if buses don't go out in the country and/or only run until 6pm, and only every hour (which they do pretty much everywhere in Ohio that isn't Cleveland or Cincinnati.), and if your parents are too lazy to drive you anywhere. You can only bum rides for so long before people find you annoying.

Personally I'm glad you have to go through extra steps to drive, most people on the road are asshats and need to be shot, hung up and their car given AWAY.

I walked to my first job, and back, when I was 14. It was two miles each way.

If you want a job, there's no excuse for not having one. You can get one, it's just a matter of how hard you try.

Necro, although I sympathize (I also had bullshit problems in Driver's Ed) you will definitely be glad once you're done and you have your license. It's worth the trouble!
