I had another driver driving my vehicle when she was involved in an accident. The other driver was going to accept the payout from the insurance company but decided at the last minute to ask for more than the maximum payout from the insurance company. Now I am being sued and after an asset search it was found that I own my home. Can I file this against my homeowners policy? Can I sell or transfer my property to another party in order to "save" my home? Can I have the driver release me from any liabilty of this accident? What is my best course of action to take in order to protect my only asset which is my home?
