Drilling My Own Hole.....................?

Im getting into the gardening scene and purchased some really affordable planting kits from a discount store. One of them was for tomatoes and came with soil, seeds and a plastic pot for planting. The pot however did not come with a drainage hole, I planted the seeds about five days ago and have been watering like crazy and see nothing...should i drill a hole myself or is drainage even necessary for tomatoes. f

Are you sure the plastic pot is for planting? It may be for starting your seeds and then discarded later. There really is no need to plant a plastic pot into the ground. If you're planning on growing them inside the pot the entire time then yes, drill those drainage holes. It is necessary for any pot to have a way to drain off excess water. Over watering can be just as bad as not watering at all. When germinating seeds keep the soil moist, but not soaking wet. Tomato seeds take from one week, to two weeks to germinate so it's ok you haven't seen anything yet.
