DreamWorks Animation is developing a new untitled ghost project that is competing for a fourth-quarter 2012 release date, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The project, referred to as "Boo U.," recently picked up writer Jon Vitti (The Simpsons Movie), who will pen the screenplay. The storyline centers on a ghost who is bad at his job and must return to ghost school.

The project will be directed by Tony Leondis (Igor) and executive produced by Gil Netter and Courtney Pledger.

This is "Super Secret Ghost Project" talked about in this report.

Jon Vitti penned some great great Simpsons episodes (like "Lisa's Substitute"), but also had writing credit on one of my least favorite Simpsons episodes, "Marge vs. Singles, Seniors, Childless Couples and Teens, and Gays", and co-wrote the Alvin & the Chipmunks live-action feature. *Sobs uncontrollably and seriously almost question my faith in God(ess) and mankind and comedy writers*

Real Monsters. Yes. Monsters Inc. No. The monsters in Monsters Inc. scared people for a living, it was their job. They were not students in a monster school. Real Monsters is the only thing that comes close.

It sounds like something you'd see released straight to DVD doesn't it?

Yep, I thought of that lame Casper movie as well.

Who knows, maybe the plot will end up being better. The plot description is short and simple, and it could be something better later on.

I enjoyed Igor a lot, so I'll have to see how this one unfolds. Hopefully some artwork will surface soon. I'm interested to see what style they go for.
