Drawn Together "Lost In Parking Space Part 2" Talkback

It was an okay episode to start off the season. I think there were four plots in this episode with the Clara gone evil, Xandir gone hobo, Foxxy captured by Hot Topic and everyone else in the van. My favorite line:

"Why do you do this [referring to Hot Topic running a toon torture chamber]"
"How else do you think Hot Topic makes money? From selling Hello Kitty coin purses and Invader Zim seat covers? What kind of a business plan is that?"

Some of the lines were just random and came out of nowhere:

"Kill him!"
"I like your boots."
"Seriously, what's a mutual fund?"

"Is that greek wedding movie any good? I'm trying to decide if I should rent it?"

Overall, as far as season openers go, this one was okay considering this may be the show's last season. If anything I hope Comedy Central will pick up Judge Fudge as a new series.

In truth not as funny as part one. Probably because there were more interesting branching problems in this one that could of yielded more jokes then what was shown in the episode. For example I would of liked to see more of the tortured cartoon characters (though the little glimpses of Daria, Scrappy Doo, Fred, and even Davey and Golitah were pretty funny) and the evils of Hot Topic, Clara's dark side showing up in more then just killing of the packaged guy, stripping and running over handicapped reservation people. I even would of wanted to see more Of Xandir's Lion King esque charades then we did see. Then again I guess they wanted to focus on where the majority of the housemates were, which IMHO was pretty much the weakest plot. Besides Ling Ling trying to remind the other housemates Toot drank salt water and his great grandmother being a chicken, Captain Hero wanting to cuddel the dummy, the line about dying and coming back every week, Chinese Food only leaving you full for an hour, and Spanky warning Xandir about using a Drawn Together pun (and then committing on his threat at the end) there wasn't as much humor as there could of been. Then again I doubt fans were expected to wait nearly a year to see more episodes so the drought for this part two probably would of been better without CC delaying the season. I still thought it was a pretty good ep (better then SP this week actually) but we've seen better "season premieres". Hope the last six episodes are better.

I didn't watch the 10:30 airing. The cable went out in my area, and I was very sad.

But I did, however, watch the 12:30 am airing. (Scared you, didn't I?)

It would be interesting to see rayluxyacht's reaction to this episode. There's Evil Clara, and then there's EVIL Clara. When she kills someone while hypocritically shouting "Must... get... into... heaven!", everyone should ph33r her indeed.:D

I find it interesting that the Hot Topic guy said Drawn Together is hated among college kids. Apparently someone doesn't own a Neilsen box...

I hope the Season 3 DVD comes out very quickly! I'd do whatever it takes for an uncensored version of these next few episodes!

They escaped by building a vehicle from parts of the same van they were inside of and slowly cycling out of the back doors. :D

This was a very funny episode. It was also an episode that made me cringe a few times, especially the Scrappy Doo part, and I've seen both Hostel movies. But that's the sign of good animation: something that makes you react to something on screen, in a good way (at least this is how I feel). The delivery guy freaking out about Clara was animated really well. The 3D Toot insides were also pretty weird too, ha. What's that supposed to be a parody of?

However, the 4th wall breaks were very self-aware to the point where they were only minor chuckles, though. This doesn't really detract from any quality, however.

Absolutely loved the line about 'Old Man Topic' XD

B+

I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be a parody of House, whenever he is explaining to his assistants what is wrong with his a patient of the day, they show their insides in CGI style.

I loved this episode. The Hakuna Matata parody was a little lost on me until they crossed the bridge, and the Hot Topic torture chamber was gory but filled with references. Too bad they didn't mention any video game characters since the shop also carries a lot of old-school style Nintendo shirts.

M favorite scene had to be Clara rescuing the prisoners of Hot Topic only to ditch them in the end when she learns she only had to ask Jesus for forgiveness to get into heaven.

Actually, he said most hated among high school kids. That part kinda confused me unless their referring to how high school kids hate everything.

The creators of Drawn Together DO know that this is a popular show among college students. Heck, when I was in college about a year ago, I was watching every episode religiously sometimes in groups. But, according to the commentary tracks of the S2 DVD, Comedy Central doesn't really pay attention to that statistic.

The high school kids hating Drawn Together line may have something to do with the creators' inspiration for the episode in which they went to Hot Topic to find DT mechandise and only found one Ling Ling T-shirt in the back on the floor used to clean up some liquid.

It's a parody of the anti smoking PSAs that aired not too long ago. They would show you what happens to the smoker's insides, and they were pretty gross.

Believe it or not, I wasn't terribly bothered with the episode at all. I've already admitted that I'm not a fan of Evil Clara, and in S3, she's been terribly overused, but here it was just so over the top that it was hard to take seriously. And more importantly, they gave her some actual redemption at the end, unlike most of S3. True, it was very misguided redemption, but that's DT for you. Not what I would have done myself, but overall, I can't complain.

For the rest of the episode... most people who know me know I'm not the biggest Xandir fan in the world, but he was actually pretty funny in this one. This may be his best episode to date. Best part of the van scenes was the comparison of Ling-Ling to a chicken.

Actually what he said was that it was hated among high school graduates. The joke is that the show is supposedly so stupid and infantile that anyone with the slightest bit of education should hate it.

Actually, it's intended as a parody of the series I Shouldn't Be Alive.

No love for The Empire Strikes Back reference? I thought that was one of the better site gags in the episode.

But the true joke, although unintentional at the time of production, is that DT was the #1-rated show amongst male college students in November 2006--the first ratings period where Nielsen boxes were placed in the dorms of college students that were part of Nielsen families.

I wasn't very happy to see her there. Her line is really confusing too: "This is men's fault" ?! Whoever wrote that must have never actually watched the show, and that's just something they think she'd say.

I'm more surprised in seeing only one cartoon character from the 80s(a Care Bear). Since I've been to Hot Topic several times and never saw any 60s cartoon characters on merchandise. Would've been funnier seeing a Smurf getting his faced smurfed in or Wheelie from Transformers G1. I think it would've been funnier if all the cartoon characters except Wheelie.

Wheelie: Can this be? Wheelie free!
***Foxy & Clara Look At Eachother, The They Pushed Wheelie Back Into The Room & Locked It***
Wheelie: Well that's just that's swell. I'll see you *****es in Hell!

Let me explain my comment about how I thought the Hot Topic guy said Drawn Together was hated by college students instead of high school graduates. Like I said before, the first and only time I watched that episode prior to posting that was at 12:30 AM in the morning. I fell asleep after that, and when I woke up, I immediately went on the internet. That post was before I ritually watched the episode over and over again and found out that that was not what he actually said. But that was a small price to pay, because this proves that I was willing to do whatever it takes to actually see that episode. If that doesn't show my passion for the show, I don't know what does!
