Well...the ol' Pic might've also leapt in the way for the sake of suicide. From his POV, he was fighting two goRAB of war and it'd be better he die protecting Gohan for just a little while longer as well as removing the Dragonballs from their grasp (mainly out of spite, I doubt Piccolo really cared about anyone else).

The way I figured it, we're witnessing the whole sacrifice moment with time basically slowed down for dramatic effect. So, it looks like he could have dodged, when in reality he had to rush just to get in the way and take the hit.

It's not a finger to the original because all 291 episodes are available on DVD in Japan and have been for years and don't look to be going anywhere, whereas FUNimation's release is a screwed up release that doesn't offer a non-screwed up release to go to as an alternative.

Well, I just saw the opening/Ending themes....It doesn't beat Ch-la-head-Cha-la, but its decent for what it is.

I liked it. The faster pace helps to keep thing interesting. The new music score is also well done.
Also, the first episode ended around the same time that Funi's first edited dub did. So I expect relatively similar pacing for now; at least until we get into some of the later fillers from the Saiyan Arc.

Maybe, MAYBE-MAYBE-MAYBE-MAYBE I'm the only one that's not looking forward about this Dragonball Kai. It's really nothing new (IMO). I mean yeah, they are taking some parts out and cleaning up the picture, but that's really all I can see from it.
I'll give it a shot (Since I have been a Dragonball fan for a good 10 or 11 years already. So, why stop now?).

Gintama has already parodied this in the new episode, announcing it as the remastered "Gintama Kai". It was hilarious.
