"Dragon Ball Kai" Saiyan Story Arc (#1-16) Talkback (Spoilers)

Yup, we're chuggin' along now. Can't wait for the KameHame-Ha v. Garlic Cannon scene!

Not bad, but nothing compared to TFS.

I've also been wondering about the "5 minutes" thing since this was announced. Again, TFS can probably do it in 5 minutes, but as for Kai... it's not that abridged.

While I do agree that these dragonball kai episodes do look much better, there the same animation, I can bare with my funi dvd's atm..but funi should take advantage of this and at least get the rights to it and copy the voices on to it..it would be better than nothing.

Just saw the first episode today (re-watching it as I type), and I gotta say it looks pretty great so far. Sure, there was some filler still intact, but there was enougth in it to be nessecary to the main storyline, so it's not much of a problem. Though unfortunately, it's the same animation, the animators did their best to redraw enough parts to make it more newer, and for the most part, it worked. Overall I gotta say that DBK has good enough improvements to make me rewatch my fave anime all over again. Looking foward to the next ep!!

Oh, one more thing,

I. F'ING. LOVE. DRAGON SOUL.

Yeah, the similarities to Dan Dan are really...well, similar.

That was downright gorgeous, and I don't even have HD.

If they EVER completely reanimated the series to look like that, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I have to say, three episodes in and I am really enjoying what they are doing here. I'm still not used to having the new music, as I miss my 80s BGM, but the music they do have here is pretty cool for the most part. However, is it just me, or did Vegeta's colors seem off in episode 3? Or rather, corrected? If I recall correctly, Vegeta's armor was green and his hair was brown in the original version.

I'm still curious to see how they plan to cut this down to 100 episodes. Actually, I am more curious to see what gets cut out. Most likely it will be the filler stuff like Garlic and Maron (we can only hope), along with the endless amounts of flasrabroadacks, dialog, and constipation, but do you guys really think that fills up 191 episodes? Then again, I guess Goku will probably finish Freezer off in the mid 40s, which is going to be super awesome. Freezer is my favorite villian, but the entire battle with Goku drags on way too long.

Nevertheless, I hope Funimation releases this show soon, and that it comes out on Blu-Ray, as I am not buying it otherwise.

Oh yeah, those of you that are complaining about edits, seriously, this is Dragonball Kai, NOT Dragonball Z. Kai is not meant to be identical to Z, otherwise they would have just called it Z. This is nothing like what Saban did, as Saban was editing Dragonball Z, NOT Dragonball Kai. I see them both as two different series, just with similar footage. Z is Z, while Kai is meant to be more closer to the manga with remastered and recolored animation.

Some interesting news. Bandai's current planned S.H. Figurart toys for the rest of the year have been announced, with a Piccolo in the works http://ngeekhiong.blogspot.com/2009/07/sh-figuarts-piccolo-noveraber-release.html

The line is basically collector quality super poseable toys of Japanese action heroes. The line has been dominated by Kamen Rider, though is going to start doing Pretty Cure soon of all things.
Sadly for me, no word on the Master Asia toy announced last year Domon must have sold like crap.

no it makes sense, the dynamic, and greatness that the saiyan to freeza saga had, none of the other sagas had! NONE! I mean past the freeza saga, ever1 is a supersaiyan, its lame! the saiyan to freeza had its comedy interesting characters and great plots!

the rest of the series after freeza to me seemed like it was for money

Everytime I watch Piccolo's death scene, I just keep thinking "Why the hell didn't he just take Gohan and jump out the way? He had such a window of oppurtunity."

I mean, even if his leg got injured, jumping out the way or something, he has regeneration powers and if Gohan got injured, there's Senzu beans to take care of it. Yeah, sure it's nitpicky (also they wouldn't have gone to Namek otherwise) but when you watch TFS DBZ:A you start to question these things!

Yeah, I didn't catch it when I was watching it. And I can't use Internet lag as an excuse, either!

Also...holy crap Nappa looks awful. And actually, I'm not digging a lot of the slight redesigns the characters got with the new animation. Especially (as I've mentioned before), Gohan.
