I've read that Obama wants to bulk up the military. Assuming that this is a possibility, my parents said they'd ship my ass to south america almost instantly. What about you other guys? Being that most of us were little kids when the war began, would you serve in it?

serve, as an american, if they call you up, it is your obligation. Anyway, I doubt he will, we only draft at times of war, and he wants to end the iraq war.

Contrary to cartel's mind-numbingly unintelligent remark, no, it is not involuntary servitude. No matter what liberal nutcase college professor of political science says, it is not involuntary servitude.

You want citizenship? You want the right to live here and enjoy the freedoms and benefits of American living? Guess what... you're obligated to serve if drafted. Thats the way it goes. Every human alive with a pulse knows that.

You and your family should pack up banking cartel and take off as a group for someplace else if thats how you feel.

I'm already registered for Officer Training so a draft wouldn't really effect me =P

It is sad that your parents actually told you they would send you to South America to avoid serving your country.

Tell your parents to thank a service member for their freedom... If not for the military, you would be speaking German now.

There is a difference between defense and aggression.

There is no draft! Your parents are wrong! There are no plans in the Congress to re-institute draft. That is, after all, the job of the Congress as set forth in Article One, Section Eight of the Constitution. It is not the assigned power of the President.
I served 25 years. The last nine of those years in the all-volunteer force. That force works. It meets or exceeds its quota every month.
I think the new President's first job is to dispatch forces to tear down the rumor mills. It is getting tiresome to see all of these "woulda, shoulda, coulda" questions about a non-existent military draft and makes me question what alternative universe is the source of all this.

Be man. when your nation calls to you, you go. not run away like a coward.
plus, draft dodging is real bad, and you could get in some serious trouble if you get caught.
If there is a draft, and you leave for S. America, don't plan on coming back a free man.
actually, don't plan on coming back at all, unless you want to get in trouble.
but man up dude.
