Hey all just wanted to let you know whats been up. I finally called the Neuros office a third time and was very persistant(yeah me).I left a message saying i had been pateint curtious ect.and i'm not mental wether they think so or not and i would really appreciate a call back with possibly some answers to my last MRI. Well that worked and they called me back stating they had sent a letter, yeah right! So thier say thier referring me to the U of M. And to boot i fell on the ice this week and i'm having a miserable time walking on both sides .One last thing, can anyone tell me can low back pain or sciatic pain causef ront area thigh pain? Thatswhere mypain isreallybadrightnow, like when i have to use the bathroom or other when i sit or get back up i can't barely without grasping the sink or my cane for sure?

Monkey, I commend your persistence! I am so thankful that you finally got a call back and a referral. I don't know much about frontal thigh pain but sometimes the left sciatic nerve pain radiates to my groin area...Are you excited about getting a referral? Please continue to keep us all updated!

Monkey, the front of your thigh can definitely be nerve pain.

Monkey, I am glad that you have learned that the squeaky wheel gets heard. I always give the doctors office and staff time to respond but if it becomes ridiculous. I will call multiple times until I get what I want and I will hold for 20 minutes if I have to, to get an answer. Yes, I am persistant!! Just ask my hubby. LOL

Congrats on getting that referral and now I pray that you can get in quickly.

hey gang, thanks for the replies! Excited, not sure really, aggrevated still i think! Plus knowing we will have to drive about two hours to get there, i hope is worth this! Imean it has to be i can barely walk here, right! I am really scared because i'm worried thier going to test me for MS but excited may be early enough to get treatment, i mean theres nothing else showing. Don't worry though still young and very fiesty! The one thing i don't understand is why can't this Neurologist test me for MS if hes not finding a cause,it seem l ike it would be on the list i nstead of waiting weeks or months right!

I had a one level PLIF at L4-5 six weeks ago. Prior to this time I had sciatic pain mostly down my right leg into my foot and toes. After the surgery, that pain was gone, but, from about two days on, I have had pain down the front of my thigh. The surgeon acts like this is all news to him. :( He said it is probably nerve pain or in my case, could be from laying on my stomach for 4 hours on the operating table, squishing the femoral nerve.

Have you been seeing a neurosurgeon or a neurologist?

I am having pains in the fronts of my thighs while walking, though it feels more like cramp pain. But I don't know yet what's causing it as I'm having cramps and spasms all over. Though the last time that I think I herniated a disc when I started walking, I got severe nerve pains in both outer hips which also radiated towarRAB my groin area. My injections did help this pain, and I could walk longer before I started feeling more dull nerve pain. But now my injections are wearing off ( its been 3 1/2 weeks since my last shot) it's becoming more painful everywhere. But this is the first time I've had this cramping type pain in the fronts of my legs ( it's where the upper leg enRAB and the pain spreaRAB from there and down the fronts of my thighs). Usually when I get nerve pain it's pretty localized & I can pretty much draw a line where it goes. But with my front of thigh cramping pain, it's more widespread. But I cant be sure if it is just cramps or maybe it is nerve pain. I've not taken lyrica long enough yet ( only taken 2 pills so far) to see if that helps at all.

Monkey, how long do you have to wait for that new appointment? I hope it's not too long and I wish you luck there! Do you have other symptoms of MS and has any doc suggested that as a possibility to you?

baybreeze, they said i should only have to wait a few weeks or so, wich isn't so bad i think. The Neurologist did suggest a brain scan at the initial exam when he said he didn;t seem to see any weakness and thats when he also suggested going to the University . The reason i can only see this being a possibility is they can't seem to find where the nerve problem is steming from and thats what the other Dr.s have suggested is the cause the only thing that stumps me is i believe that with something like MS i thought effects the whole one side at first not just the lower leg but i could be wrong. Or another thought would be Diabetic Neuropathy as that seems to effect the foot and the legs but it seems something would have been off in all the blood work i've had. And one last thing is i seem to be losing alot of weight but you can't see it it really and it's almost as if it's muscle loss. Well i survived my fall and i believe i am back to normal! That was close. I and my family ended up with the flu bug thats going around and i have been down for two days and i think that helped me recover down to being able to walk at least with one leg the right way again . I hope you get some relief with the Lyrica soon! Take care, Love, Monkey

marlosmom, i saw a Nuerosurgeon about a year and a half ago and all he did was say well you don't need surgery go back to your Dr.(wich is not such a bad thing) but it didn't explain anything! this time i was seeing a Neurologist and still not getting anywhere!
