Downton Abbey - ITV1

Don't know what Mary and the Turkish guy got up to but she seemed to be walking and sitting without wincing. Wouldn't the other servants have heard the maid bashing away on her typewriter? I thought they worked so hard they just collapsed into bed for 3 hours sleep a night.

I'm also wondering about that .. although I'm assuming Anna is a virgin, and that she didn't have him down as a all night sex monster, she loves him for his good, brave, manly nature.

Ah, but maybe she wants children; most women would.

It's strange isn't it because the week before we saw Carson being very tender and saying Lady Mary had always been his favourite

Welcome Aquamanda, yes - very ambiguous I think, I can't quite reconcile how Lady Mary refers to him as 'my lover' to her mother and I really can't think she'd have been as keen as it seemed on something I'd have thought she knew nothing about.

Surely she'd have been protecting her purity and thus the whole of her future?
I'd have found it more realistic if he'd taken advantage and she'd been mortified afterwarRAB.

You are in luck next week, the valet and the maid get naked, the cook sets fire to the building, one of the "ladies" gets it on with a horse, the footman necks a bottle of stolen wine only to find it has been poisoned by the butler and the Graf Zeppelin is seen to descend for a bombing run before catching fire and wiping out the village....and then there is an advert break.

I was refering to the events as Edith knows them, rather than what we know.

He was young. He spent the day hunting (more strenuous than people might think). He had no ill effects at dinner or later that evening.
The next thing she is aware of is her sister carrying his dead body.

She cannot rule out that Mary was responsible for his death. I don't think she wrote to the ambassador to tell him his dead employee died of natural causes while having sex, why should he care. I think she wrote to tell him that the death was suspicious.

While only 1 peer was ever hanged for murder, Pamook was involved in sensitive talks. If (as far a Edith thinks possible) he was murdered then political pressure could conceiveably result in a Lady being hanged.

I really enjoy this show (just caught up on sky plus)

It does remind me a lot of "The Grand" which was on in the late 90's. It is different but similar to me. To that end i half expected them to stitch up Joanna Froggats character (Anna) after the death of "The Turk" and have her take the fall and end up hanged at the end of the series.

Three reasons i was expecting this, one because it would be heartbreakingly sad (much in the same way Jane Dansons character Monica was executed in "The Grand" although she did kill the man, who had attempted to rape her), Secondly because both actress have been in (or are in) coronation street and thirdly because Joanna Froggat seems to have a history of playing characters who end up dead!

I am glad that so far this has not happened because along with the little kitchen hand aka slave girl (Gwen?) Joanna Froggats character (Anna) is the character i care most about.

Good show, hope for a second series ?

Yes I agree, it is a great drama. Though don't want to get too caught up in potential plot, but not sure if Anna would be "stitched up". After all Daisy if I remember correctly saw Lady Mary carry the Turk into his room. Did she see Anna?

One thing I do hope for is a cliffhanger at the end of this series.
