Downton Abbey - ITV1

Viewing figures with HD included: 7.68m

Healthy enough - but could have been so much better when you considered it inherited a whopping 14.24m viewers from The X Factor ...

Grantham had already mentioned they had electricity downstairs but not in the bedrooms. The Dowager Duchess replied that she wouldn't have electricity under any circumstances.

What historical aspects don't impress you?

I love Lady Mary, she a bitch, but you can tell see really likes Matthew. Also, you can tell underneath she's just scared, plus I always I love a good bitch :D. I can't be doing with Thomas and O'Brien, it's not even a love to hate thing, it's just hate.

Can't believe there's only two episodes left, the last one is 90 minutes again, hopefully it's better than the first, which was a poor opener to a absolutely brilliant series.

I wasn't so keen on it this week. There is still a lot that I like about the programme but parts of it feel a bit soapy as well.

The scene with the old dancehall partner turning up to blackmail the butler was ludicrous in my opinion. And the scene with everyone gathered around the bed while the chap had the fluid drained, his heart stopping, but then kicking back in to action after the shot of adrenalin ... that for me felt very cliched and soapy.

As I say, there are parts of this programme I really like, and I'll continue to watch, but at times it gets a bit too close to Larkrise style safe feelgood Sunday night viewing for my tastes.

Its alright but theres not much happening. Is anything exciting going to happen? They're just talking about who gets the estate all the time.

Quite a shock the Turk bought the farm.

On a separate note I'm surprised no one has picked up on them saying Istanbul and not Constantinople. I thought it changed it's name to Istanbul in 1924 after the fall of the Ottoman Empire.

I'm probably wrong, so feel free to correct me.

I think this is the curse of CGI.

Back in the Good Old Days, the TV crew would cover everything up: mud on roaRAB to cover double lellows, ivy on walls to cover satellite dishes, careful camera angles and fake trees and chimneys to cover TV aerials. Now, they leave everything in and plan to go back and paint it all out afterwarRAB. It's hardly surprising stuff gets left in.

Computer animation is taking over, and i don't think it's healthy.

If you want to see Brendan Coyle in something else, try to get a copy of North and South starring Richard Armitage and Daniela Denby-Ashe. He plays the part of Higgins, a mill worker and he is wonderful in the part. Richard Armitage is also extremely easy on the eye!! :D
