Downton Abbey - ITV1

And Evelyn Napier is making his excuses and leaving hastily...another of Mary's suitors heaRAB for the hills...

I feel sorry for Edith, it's a shame Matthew doesn't seem to fancy her at all.

Pointing out certain aspects that personally jar doesn't necessarily mean that someone does not like or enjoy this drama. We love it in our house and it is great entertainment for a Sunday night as posters have mentioned.

Can't wait to find out what evil Edna is up to to with Thomas.

I enjoyed that
1st episodes are always difficult as they try to introduce so many characters but I thought they managed to give them all a glimpse of their roles (glad Bates stayed too)

The adverts I can tolerate to a degree (I know that's the price to pay for watching a commercial channel) but what completely p'd me off was ITV's plug for some programme tomorrow night when the characters started speaking within about one second of the 'in next's week's Downtown Abbey' trailer finishing.
:mad::mad::mad:

I guess I am just used to the Period drama bait and switch. Show the oblivious guy hopelessly blinded to one females faults while his ultimate true love seems all but invisible. Come the end of the story the real characters are revealed and even a genuine change makes it too late for redemption as he is in love with the heroine. :)
I'm thinking of Mansfield Park or others of that ilk!

It is very rude to say that people who like a certain programme must be easily pleased.

I do not like some of the most popular programmes on TV, but that is just because I happen to enjoy other stuff, not because I am harder to please.

I do not say that people who like soaps or reality TV are easily pleased just because I do not like those programmes - I am sure that soap fans and reality TV fans are just as discerning, and able to tell good from bad in those genres, as I am about the sort of programmes I like.
