Downsizing your life style to change job?

A little lower you'll see my first question about if you ever cried at work. I'm really at the bottom of the barrel and I refuse to deal with the stress anymore. I have built an impressive career at that place and leaving would be cutting my salary by 10k-15k a year.

With a cut back like that I would not be able to keep my property.

Just wondering if anyone out there had ever accepted a drastic life style change to quite a job.
