Downloading Music Good or Bad?

Dr. Dre says that when you downlaod illegaly you are taking the food out of his kiRAB mouths.

I mean, im pretty sure the guy has a hard time supporting his kiRAB, especialy with his income.

Of course if theres a album that you could just buy at a record store, then it wouldnt hurt to do that instead of illegal downloading, all you have to do is sacrifice 10 to 30 bucks depending on the price.

downloading isn't killing the indutry.. I mean sure it's probably hurting, a little but the pre-manufactured crap and the indutry, itself is klilling the industry.
Everyone jsut loves to blame downloaidng 'cause it's an easy crutch.

I'm all for downloading, but at the same time I can definitely see why anyone would be against it

I think you are not looking hard enough. I live in a small town and still manage to see Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr and other alternative rock banRAB cRAB in abundance, thanks to Nirvana. The problem for me is the price, whenever I find a good cd it is like 40 dollars. This has happened before a couple of times when going to buy Black Flags Dammaged a few years ago and Televisions Marquee Moon among others. The other problem is getting really underground music. I'm never going to find a single by some punk band that released 100 pressings of said single and then disappeared for good. It's almost impossible to ever hear some of this great music if I don't download it.

How can you say that?? I bought my first Hank Williams CD in Tennessee

When I was in my teens, I always bought albums. I had no other responsibility, so I sank my money into music. Albums were 5-7 dollars.

Today, though, with the addition of kiRAB, wife, bills, mortgage, etc, I simply can't go plunk down 20 bucks every week for music that may or may not be any good.

I use downloading as a tool, to see if I am willing to invest, legitimately, in an artist's work.

As an example, I'd always dabbled around with blues, but never really listened to it extensively, other than what I could catch on the college radio station. So, after hearing a few different artists, I would download some of their stuff, and burn it, and give it a test drive for a few weeks, see if it grew on me. I now own a ton of legitimate store bought blues cRAB that I enjoy, as opposed to owning maybe 1/2 dozen or so and quitting because I felt as though I'd been ripped off.

Sure, they get royalties, but that is not how they make their millions. They make the overwhelming majority of their money off concert ticket sales, and merchandice.

sweet, I love that shizz

I went to a Hank Williams festival a few weeks ago, I got to dance with an old lady with rhinestone encrusted boots. It was cool, she bought me a drink
