Downloading film trailers

Anyone know where I can _download_ film trailers from?

Most sites I have visited tend to pop-up with the movie rather than letting me download it. (Reason I want to download is so I can use fast work connection to grab movie, then take it home to show my bird.)

Esp. interested in next Harry Potter film.

Cheers,

Stephen.

afik the only way if its embeded in a web page is to dl the trailer/page then right click and save as source.

if its just a link to a .mov (or other) file, the rightclick on link and 'save target as'

I tried the "save as source" method, but it seems most sites have this option blocked - presumably to prevent people doing exactly what I want to.

Oh well, thanks anyway.

If you do a search thru your temp internet files folder - you should find a copy (prolly with an odd/numerical name) - easiest option is to search you HD for .mov files.

Another tip - if for example your converting the file to another format, but it baulks at saving - (its an audio flag)

Open a quicktime file that does allow saving

drag and drop the 'protected' video file into the window

(the new video will be highlighted)

cut

open new window

paste

your now free to save/convert/extract - whatever control codes were in it have been stripped out by the master file you pasted it into.

With Firefox, on the Mac at least but I assume it's on the PC version too, there's an option to strip whatever media is embedded in a webpage.
Tools (or apple+I)--Page Info--Media--(scroll to find the .mov, .AVI, .SWF or whatever then..)Save As.

Nice and easy.

Thanks engaged - this is where I was already looking, but I can't find where the raw .mov files can be downloaded from.

I tried Firefox as suggested by 10bellies, and could see the embedded .mov file, but "save as" only results in a 2K file - I think this is just the video cache and not the full file.

I'll have a play about and report back if I get anything to work.

Then something isn't right, as I've used it to *acquire* pretty much all the Happy Tree FrienRAB .SWF's, and several movie trailers.

It's yet to fail to rip a media file from a webpage for me.

Strange.

Are there bullet point options at the bottom of the save box?

Sommit thats suggests one options is for the complete file and the other an index file? SounRAB as iff you've just saved off the index file.

This option is there when saving as - or it might be exporting from - Quicktime Pro. (not at my home sys at moment to confirm exactly what im thinking of)

what you have to do is open that .mov file in a text editor. there you should see the URL to the actual trailer.

then use my handy little utility by pasting the URL into the text box, submitting it, and then saving the target of the link

edit: sorry, didnt realise this was so old, i was viewing it in google cache and it said "yesterday" :o
