dont use HMV online for orders

Guys, if you want me to look into specific orders I need your order numbers or the email address you placed the order with, contact me via pm with the details as I'm sure you dont want your personal information on display for the world to see.

Your not the only one..but with me..I never even received my order from them [even though the promised to send it out once they got new stock]. After it was obvious that they weren't going to send my order out..I vowed never to shop online with them again....absolutely hopeless. I sometimes pop in their high street store though..just never online.

Don't think this has been mentioned before. For DVD's off of the internet, I am a big fan of:

www.find-dvd.co.uk

I reckon it's the best price-comparison site around... searches every DVD online store of any worth. I have never had any problems with any of the many stores it searches, with the exception of 101CD and it's associated Amazon Marketplace store - they are completely useless.

I always try to buy DVD's online, though walking around a HMV seems to turn me into a very greedy and impatient brat and I start collecting discs in my arms to buy..! :)

Got my compensation, 12% off my next order online...HA! Like I would use HMV again since Im still waiting nearly 6 weeks later for my dvd and it takes them on average 4 days to respond to a barrage of angry mails and even then its a "please send us your delivery address we're very sorry" stockpile answer. Ive told them I dont want another one sent, I want my money back.

A few things about the HMV service. It has got slower since they moved but as HMV explained in their posts they are sorting that out. If I were them I'd let their employer know that they were going above and beyond to satisfy their customer. Where I work at LloyRAB TSB, we get a bonus for this
I've also seen singles listed on their website with a list price of

Yes but HMV are supposedly doing everything they can to get the orders processed why would sending you a private message speed things up if there is no stock?

Unless you are one of the managers who will personally go to the distributor and pick up the item I can't see how you would be able to speed things up. We can see the progress of our orders on the site.

i like the fact that when i posted this thread i wasnt expecting this kind of response. now it seems im not the only this has happened to and this HMV forum member just keep srepeating himself because he has nothing else to say.

If i were them i would get everything arranged first instead of attempting to work around it while customers are getting irrate.

for the record i do use play.com anyway but on this occasion i ordered from HMV as the dvd boxset was cheaper than elsewhere.

I think i will stick with play in the future

I've ordered from HMV online a few times when items were cheaper than Play, Amazon etc and I've only run into a snag with my most recent order. The item was meant to have been despatched (and my credit card was charged) on 3rd Dec. I waited the 14 days before contacting them as requested, but I've yet to receive a response from them.

I emailed them via the website using 'orders' from the drop down selection and also my replying to the despatch email that was sent. They have the order number, confirmation that my address was fine (part of the order arrived ok) and which item has gone missing, so I'm pretty disappointed at the lack of response. Even a confirmation of receipt of the web email sent would have been something.

What is the email people (finally) got response from? Or does anyone have a phone number I can use?

I have to say that my question re: the Frida Lyngstad box set doesn't require my passing on my Order Number because all I want to know, not just for me but for all who have ordered the box, is when HMV are going to actually receive these from Universal Music in Sweden. As I said the release date for the 'Frida 4XCD/1XDVD' box set in the UK was Monday (5 Dec) and there is still no word as to when it's going to be available at HMV. Having checked today, I see that it is still on 'Special Order'. So, Mr or Mrs or Miss or Ms HMV.. almost a week since I ordered it and three days since it's release, can you contact Universal Music to find out when you are going to have it despatched to you for you to despatch it to us? Thanks in anticipation of your help.

And what good will giving my details do, according to HMV they shipped it on the 18th. Whats this HMV person going to do? Personally run around to all the post offices in the area and check them?
All I know is, the money was taken out of my account on the 17th and I havent received a thing yet. I sent my complaint yesterday on the website above and I havent even gotten a response although I have noticed that they have a disclaimer on it to say that they have a big volume of e-mails to get through so there may be delays in responding, funny that HMV can hire people to clear the back log but they cant hire more to answer disgruntled customers e-mails! I also mailed a reply to my shipping notice and I havent recieved a response to that either.

Agreed- I've used them for about 5 years now and I've only ever had one problem with them- when I complained they were very apologetic, gave me a bit of money off and have been fine since. CDwow have been very good too- although there isn't any indication of when an item is out of stock. I've used HMV a few times- now they've got free delivery they're more competitive. Amazon are fine (if a bit more expensive) for DVRAB and other items that are in stock, but I've had a few problems with electrical items close to Christmas- they're avaliability times need to be taken with a big pinch of salt- when they get close to when the item should ship they jump up by another few days. At least they answer the phone, even if they aren't very helpful.

I ordered the B5 Universe collection on the 22nd of October. It took over a week to be emailed to say that it had to be ordered especially, well I say they emailed me, they emailed me a blank email saying my order xxxxx, xxxxxxx was delayed.
I finally got an email saying that it was despatched and money taken from my account but no dvd's. Looked at the site and found out I had to wait 2 weeks to report it. So I did. I emailed them and told them of my woes. No response. I wait another week and send another email, little more forceful and that night I get a response to my second email. Next morning I get an email responding to my original email. Both emails say my dvRAB were despatched on different days. That was at the weekend. Still not arrived.

Bottom line, I wont be using them again, I dont care how many of their staff come on here. And i used to work for HMV so I do know how much they focus on Customer Service which is why I'm so surprised and annoyed by this. If this was a customer order in a shop I'd have to stand there and take the abuse from the customer for the crappy handling of the situation.
Not answering e-mails is the worst imho, at least if you're getting communication from the company then you dont feel like you're being ignored.

Got my James Bond box set just in the nick of time. Well done HMV. Most other companies probably would have cancelled as this was clearly a pricing error.

Got season 2 of The Wire deivered with no trouble, although they did send what seemed to be an auto e-mail apologising for poor service about 10 seconRAB after I placed my order. :)
