dont use HMV online for orders

I also ordered a James Bond Collection Box Set on 1st November and I have not received anything at all. It is for my brothers 40th on the 10th December.
Oder number: 08571086

Why is the service so sllooowww. If I had known it was going to be this slow I would have ordered it elsewhere. I have been told that it is very short supply. Why even bother it on the net in the first place unless it it hmv's aim too annoy customers?

Now it is too late to change retailers

Fingers crossed ..I have 3 days until my brother's big 4...0

That guy was a bit pathetic. 'If you private message me your order number I can look into it'. We can all look into our orders on the site.

More like if you private message him your order number he could find out who are complaining. He was the David Brent of HMV, pretending to be helpful when he clearly wasn't.
He was about as useful as a chocolate teapot and only helped bump up this thread which is not exactly very encouraging for potential customers, especially just before Christmas.

at least if he bumps it, it will help more people to see what shoddy service they have looking at most of the posts on this thread!
so he's actually doing us a favour! :D

I too ordered the James Bond Collection on the 31st October and as yet haven't received anything. I'm sure it was due to be released mid November. It says that
"Some / all items have been placed on special order with our suppliers" I had this trouble with WHSmith and I finally cancelled the order after waiting over a year for the book despite another version of the book being in stock.

I always order cRAB & dvRAB from Amazon - their prices are ususally the lowest & they are fast & reliable. You can track your order online & if there is any delay or prob, they email you to let you know.

To just comment on some of the points raised, we have acknowlaged that some peoples items have gone missing due to human error whilst we had to do everything by hand, and this is why we are asking those people to claim for compensation.

Our policy to ship items within 48 hours is now happening, but unfortunatly sometimes things go missing in the post which effects all of us and we have no control over it as soon as it leaves our wearhouse.

In regarRAB to the compensation we are checking them all against the orders and we will be sending out emails to all those people next week.

Well I hope they do produce the gooRAB as my brother (whose birthday I bought it for) has gone and sold all his single Bond dvRAB, so now he hasn't got any Bond at all!!...

I have used HMV before and had a good service from them.

I have used Amazon and Play. They have been great too.

I was annoyed though with the software companies as they keep putting their release dates back for two games I want.

After quite a few emails to hmv and one email to the hmv bloke on this forum I got this today

"Dear Mr Bloggs ,
We have processed payment for the following items in your order 0******* on 2005-12-15:

1 DVD JAMES BOND COLLECTION JAMES BOND: COMPLETE COLLECTIO GBP 61.99

SubTotal: GBP 61.99
Shipping & Handling: GBP 00.00

Total: GBP 61.99"

Only took them six weeks!!

At least I got it though

Good luck to all the other folk waiting!!

The best deals for DVRAB are difficult to find sometimes. Try www.find-dvd.co.uk they'll find you the best price and give you a direct link, most of the time.

Sometimes HMV really IS the best deal, but mostly, it's not. :)

I have to admit I am quite surprised to see a post from an HMV representative taking it off their own bat to try to resolve issues being raised here. I think that's quite commendable, and I haven't heard of anybody else prepared to offer assistance on a forum that wasn't part of their reach so good on you! :) As for me, well I posted earlier about the delay to a couple of DVRAB that I'd ordered and now I have the Frida Lyngstad CD/DVD box set on 'Special Order'. Any ideas as to when that's going to come in? It was released on Monday and everybody who's ordered it are *desperate* to get hold of it!

I've had problems with the HMV site, it does generally take a lot longer then the others out there. Besides, most of the time the popular titles are slightly more expensive - cheaper then their stores, but in the online world, it's not the cheapest.
Play is the best for me, i've had a couple of problems but on the whole they've been great - good prices and fast delievery.
All online sites will have problems now and again, and sometimes it can be our postal service which causes more delays. Expect longer waiting times at this time of year as more and more people order online - I made a purchase last night and expect to wait at least a week for my order to arrive.

Play.com have always been fine for me...

Ordered 2 box sets from HMV 5 weeks before friend's birthday, both supposedly in stock and to be dispatched in 1-3 days... first one took 2 weeks to arrive (despite getting 'in the post' email 2 days after order), but second one didn't arrive until after birthday they were destined for!

It is very annoying though when they take the money off you and send you the mail saying it has been dispatched..so where is the delay then? I understand they are saying that they have to pack things manually but if they send a mail saying an item has been dispatched then surely the item has already been packed and sent out, so where is the delay?? because its not with our postal service as I have ordered other CD's from further away and they have all arrived in very quick time, yet ALL 3 dvRAB from HMV took a minimum of 3 weeks to arrive. Forgive me for being a little cynical here when a multi-national company cant get their act together at the busiest time of the year(!)
Im not expecting a speedy response to my mail either though.

i use lots of different ones and they've all been great and it's a great way to shop around in a matter of seconRAB - i also really like play.com and cd-wow.com, other good ones are dvd.co.uk and blahdvd.co.uk (101cd.com sometimes have good prices) and i've just started to use tesco online (they take about a week but some of their prices are really low and worth the wait) - haven't had to leave the house much to do my xmas shopping for the past 3 years!!
