The Best Thing Anyone Can Do Is Contact Head Office Which The Address Is Listed On The Website. Write A Stinking Letter And Your GooRAB Will Turn Up In About Two Days. Amazing How Quickly They Get Back To You When You Shout At Head Office
 
I've never had a problem with them, but I've only used them a couple of times. Use play.com most often, but was thinking about using HMV a bit more since I get 10% off there for being a student and now it's free delivery...
 
WARNING TO ALL

i recently bought a dvd from HMV and it took 6 weeks.

the story, they sent me the wrong one first, i sent it back and was told the correct one was in the post. 3 weeks later still nothing so i emailed, and emailed, and emailed, and emailed and got naff all for my efforts.

i wrote to head office and was told that due to the distribution centre moving to guernsey there were disruptions to the service and this will happen for a while until they get up to speed.

i was credited and got the dvd for free two days later.

Surprise surprise, I have mailed both the address above and HMV directly regarding my order, it has been 3 days and I havent even had a reply. Forgive me for not putting much faith in them(!)
 
I've never had one single problem with HMV. I've always found them very fast.
And on the one occasion I had a damaged item they acted quickly to replace it. :)
 
They have be absolutely sh1te for me. I ordered a DVD box set 4 weeks ago and they still haven't dispatched it.

Why list it as 'In Stock' when they do not have any copies. Only reason I have not cancelled is because the price is too good to miss out on.

I'm glad to of come across you posts here in rabroad.

It is true that hmv.co.uk have had some order processing problems recently due to mechanical error, because of this we have had to process and pack and ship everything by hand and have taken on a lot more staff to try and get all the orders posted out whilst waiting for the mechanical failure to be fixed.

Do you get the feeling the HMV guy only came into this forum to try and make HMV look better yet he seems to have done nothing but p!ss everybody off.

Empty promises will get you nowhere. Note to self, do not use HMV for DVRAB. PLAY ALL THE WAY.
 
I also had a a long wait, a few weeks ago. I too was told it was because of the big move to Guernsey.

I've ordered with them since and there was no problem; very quick service.

I do agree that they can be very slow at responding to queries.

Now that they've gone to Guernsey, they can be much more competitive than they used to be. For a start, it's free delivery (to the UK) from now on.
 
Can you please explain why I have still not received a DVD box set which was ordered over 4 weeks ago. It is the James Bond complete collection. There are many other retailers who have this item in stock and I have notcied several copies in your stores.

Well we aren't exactly making false claims about them..we are just stating our own bad experiences with them. It was the very first order I placed with them..an audio cd to be precise..and they told me that it was out of stock..and that as soon as they had more stock in..they'd send out the cd.......they never did.

At first I was flaming furious with them..but then I just put it down to experience and started shopping elsewhere. I also don't find them very cheap at all either..whereas other online stores knock some off the RRP...and with amazon z sellers..you can maybe get your item for even less. I also don't mind getting my dvRAB/books/audio cd's second hand as well. Not really into desperately wanting the packaging attatched..the cling film stuff.
 
Took two weeks for my orders to arrive and that was only after I'd phoned their head office (and the number is NOT easy to find - I had to get someone in recruitment to put me through)! "Move to Guernsey, blah, blah, blah..." Play, on the other hand, supplied me with a DVD recently which was faulty. I called them up, spoke to a great lady on the phone who IMMEDIATELY ordered another one to be sent, FREE OF CHARGE, although I told her I'd be sending the original one back. "No problem," she said. Unfortunately, I still haven't had time to send the first one back but the replacement came yesterday. Cost:
 
I had West Wing season 5 on forward order from Play.

It's official release date was a monday. It arrived on the saturday before the release date. Always knew Play were good but that REALLY impressed me.
