Dont ruin the Karate Kid

Maybe not dramatically, but there has been a recent surge of remakes over the last decade and most of them have been pointless. Get Carter, The Italian Job, Assault on Precinct 13, War of the WorlRAB, the Day the Earth Stood Still. Of course this is my opinion and I have no doubt that the films mentioned have many fans.

There are a number of movies which have been remade which never should:
1. Sabrina (the original was wonderful with Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn), why remake perfection?
2. The Day the Earth Stood Still (a classic, the remake was awful)
3. Pride and Prejudice (okay, not a movie remake, but the original BBC series was FAR superior to the mess that this Keira Knightley vehicle proved to be)
4. Freaky Friday (LinRABay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis in a modern remake by Disney of a Disney original...WHY?)
5. The Parent Trap (okay, the original wasn't brilliant and looked at today it is very awkward, especially the 'cloning' of Hayley Mills, but why remake it with LiLo?)

Proposed remakes:
1. Footloose (little girl Zac Efron in the role that made Kevin Bacon a household name)
2. The Karate Kid (another way to get a talentless acting spawn onto the big screen...Will Smith NO!)

That's it thus far, but I am sure as the year progresses there will be more to add to the "Proposed" list, and even more I can think of that should be added to the "Big Mistake" list. Thank goodness no one is trying to remake "Roman Holiday" or "The Breakfast Club".
