My symptoms started 32 years ago in 1978 after a serious bout with dengue fever. For years, I experieced flare-ups with burning sensations, pain and fatigue. In the last 15 years, other symptoms that come and go during flare-ups include shortness of breath, slurring speech, mixing up my words, having trouble finding the right words when I speak, poor short term memory, and having trouble focusing and concentrating. Two years ago my doctor sent me to a neurologist and a vascular specialist because my toes were numb. The neurologist did a nerve conduction test and said there was no nerve damage. Sorry I had not replied. I'm new at this and wasn't sure how to find or finish the thread I started. Six weeks ago I had a flare-up with the usual burning sensations, cognitive "fog", and shortness of breath. It lasted for 8 days, but since then, my hands, feet, face and upper back have been numb. I went back to the same neurologist. He was convinced that my problems were caused by sleep deprivation and put me on Trazodone to help me sleep. After two and a half weeks of sleeping 7-8 hrs. a night, the numbness is still there. I am going to see another neurologist soon and hope to find some answers. It's been frustrating me for 32 years to see how I've developed new symptoms, and how some of them have gotten worse.
