I have been on anti anxiety medication for a long time now, i''m 26 and most days i''m ok however when I am nervous about something it immediately effects my bowels and causes me to have to rush to the toilet and generally have an upset stomach for days before the event i''m nervous about.

As its so rare I can usually put up with the extreme symptoms but now I have met a man I really like and get along with but just being around him or the thought of seeing him makes me nervous and means I am constantly rushing to the bathroom or thinking I will have to and I don''t know what to do, I feel that its going to ruin my life.

I am supposed to see him next week and already the thought of seeing him has caused me to have diarrhea and its making me think I should cancel seeing him. Help!!

I wish I could help you. I have taken an anxiety pill in past years, but now only take a pill for depression. I can't list the pill for anxiety, but I would ask for something else.I would bone up on some self-esteem exercises. I had great sucess with my
lack of self-confidense,with a little reading.Remeraber;you are as good as any other person in the whole world. Good luck. Bill

Hello,

I don't think your concerns are bizarre at all. Why is because over the
years to some degree I too had quick onset of diarrhea etc. Sometimes
peaking with stress and other times with certain fooRAB.

A medication I am on now is helping me with my IC and loose bowel
issues. That medication is Amytriptyline. Also I take a low dose of
Gabapentin also for IC. Well anyway I agreed to try it for IC and thus
far is helping a little only.

Being you may hold a lot of stress in your bowels is not a bad thing,
it is just an inconvient thing I know! Hugs.

I am 56 and although much older than you I can relate to feeling that
anticipation that " gaRAB I might have to run to the bathroom! I remeraber
oh too clearly.

Maybe make an appt with your doctor or a specialist. Perhaps more
helpful info would be presented to you.

I chose to talk to my man friend back when about my episodes of
the same things you are sharing about etc. He was understanding and
we ended up in a relationship for 15 years. Not together as a couple
now but best frienRAB. Our relationship did not end though because
of the loose bowel issues.

Keep us posted and hugs,

Janaly

Have you thought maybe it is time to change your anti anxiety medicine to something else or perhaps increase the dosage or even to have some therapy sessions to see if you can get better control over your anxiety? I wouldn't cancel your date but you will have to figure you some meditation exercises or something else to help you bring some relief from anxiety. I am so sorry that you have to deal with this...some people vomit unfortunately you are the opposite.
