Don't call them hamburgers

The next time you go to Mc Donalds, DO NOT ask for a "Hamburger".

They're not hamburgers any more, and please don't call them hamburgers
any longer. Due to numerous legal suits, the word hamburger is being
changed to "Ground Beef Burger". This is due to lawsuits which claims
that the word "hamburger" is misleading, because they do not contain
ham. The Pork Industry first took this to the U.S. courts in 2008,
and since then, there have been numerous cases and appeals. A Federal
Judicial decision was finally enacted, and it was decided to change
the name of this sandwich from "hamburger" to "Ground Beef Burger".
All restaurants serving these sandwiches are now required by law to
remove the word "hamburger" from all their menus and advertising no
later than December 31, 2011, or face severe penalties.

A sandwich containing a meat patty which consists of at least 94.5%
ground ham, CAN be called a hamburger. But no sandwich containing a
meat patty made from beef, or any other meat will be allowed to be
called a hamburger. The word "hamburger" will be changed in all
dictionaries and other books of the English language, including
encyclopedias, and educational books. All persons who reside in the
United States of America are asked to please stop calling these
sandwiches "hamburgers", unless they are actually made from ham.
However calling them "burgers" regardless of the type of meat, is
legal and acceptable in any business which serves this sandwich.

This is really disgusting. Our Supreme Court has become a political body, an
appointed, not elected, political body. Appointment to the Supreme Court has
nothing to do with experience on the bench, as it should be, but who you are
politically. The court's interpretation of the law, which affects us
greatly, has become a political event. The Supreme Court is supposed to be
rationally interpreting the code, as interpreted by the court subservient to
is. The Court is not supposed to be doing anything other than this. They
should have sent the hamburger issue back to the legislative body where this
originated, and legislative branch of governmen regarding hamburger would or
would not be created. The Court does not make laws.

Now the court creates law. They removed the "ham" from hamburger because
that's the word for uncured pork leg. "hamburger" There isn't any code at
any level that says "hamburger is" . Given that, they shouldn't hear the
case, other than to say it's not defined by code. We've been living with
hamburger for two centuries. Hamburger is hamburger, and it's also
hamburger.

As trivial as this may sound, it's very very important. It's enough to make
you throw up, or vomit. It's also dangerous. The court could declare war.

As a justice you must have had significant experience on the bench to
address this. To place someone on the bench who has never been there is a
joke. Most people don't understand this. You can't unless you've been to
court to resolve something that must be dictated by code, Federal code,
State Code, County Code, or City code in descending order.

The most recent member of the court has never been on the bench.

I've been in court over civil matters enough to think and know this. Most
amongst us don't.

Uggh! You'd better polish those rusty English skills.

Many of us here in Washington think that having a legal academic on
the court is a very good thing.

You can expect a knock on your door. I have notified the police. Your
post is illegal. Not just off topic, but illegal. Due to mass
confusion on the internet about April Fool's jokes, a law was passed
last June that all jokes must be posted no later than six hours prior to
the end of the day, as otherwise, jokes would be received by many
readers after April Fools was over, and not realize the joke.

It's still a hypothetical example. It still applies, as far as I'm
concerned. The most recent appointment to the court has never been on the
bench.

Clarence Thomas has never, never, participated in oral arguments regarding a
case. He votes; he doesn't talk

How can you evaluate the potential justice? Lecturing has precious little
to do with interpreting code. You have to be able to look at a candidates
history on the bench. I think it would be impossible to choose based on
academic qualifications.

Might as well just outright cut and paste that Wiki page.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamburger

If you read carefully the article is by no means clear that the American
version of the hamburger originated offshore. The original Hamburg Steak
which is by one account the namesake of the modern hamburger was not even
ground meat. By another account hamburgers are named after Hamburg, New
York. By extension that town is named after Hamburg Germany so at best the
burger is an indirect namesake of the German city.

I learned something interesting from that article which is that Salisbury
Steak was a term invented during WW I to replace the term "hamburger"
because of anti-German sentiment.

My bucket list includes getting a burger from Louis' Lunch.

He did several lifetime's worth of inappropriate talking before he was
