Due to be remade sometime this year, the original is a neat little creepfest and although not easy to find, is definitely worth the effort.
Kim Darby is a housewife convinced she's being terrorised by three tiny creatures she's unwittingly released into her home. Naturally, everyone, including her husband, thinks she's nuts.
Made (for tv) in two weeks (still a record apparently), no CGI, no gore, just good performances, clever photography and a truly scary idea. See it at your peril . . . :eek::eek::eek:
 
It was released by CIC Video in the 80's but I have the films only official dvd release in the world from Japan where it's double billed with what is supposedly a tv movie classic but I've never heard of it - Gargoyles

DBAOTD has been conspicuously absent from satellite tv
 
Is that the "Don't unbrick the fireplace" film? If it is, it gave me nightmares for weeks when I saw it as a kid :eek:.

I doubt that a remake would be nearly as atmospheric as the original.

Oh for the days when terrestrial TV was prepared to show films other than Hollywood conveyer belt crud or leftist social drama crap. By far and away the best TV movies ever made were those American 70's ones, and right up until the mid 90's they were regularly shown on BBC1 and ITV. Dying Room Only is another cracker and, if you want to be truly frightened, try the final story from Trilogy of Terror (which is very similar to DBAOTD).
 
That's the one with Karen Black in a portmanteau of three stories - the last one is Prey with the Zuni fetish doll. Again it scared the crap out of me.

In a similar vein does anyone remember Dead Of Night (1977), which was another portmanteau of three stories? The last story was "Bobby" about a woman who brings her son back from the dead - another film that caused sleepless nights.
 
Trilogy of Terror and The Norliss Tapes are also out on R1 dvd's .Both are Dan Curtis movies .
The Norliss tapes is an obvious pilot with an awful ending.

There is also another Dan Curtis classic called Dead of Night.

I got it on Australian dvd but that too is now out on R1

The 2 all time classic Dan Curtis movies are the 2 Kolchak pilots The Night Stalker and The Night Strangler.

Still available on a R1 double bill they have been out in the US for 10 years but have never been out on UK dvd for some reason- the same goes for all these Dan Curtis movies
