I wish I was home..... I live about 15 min from the Dragon, and this is PRIMO ridding time... My company has me in the Mountains of AZ 1700 miles from my baby. Ohhh well....

The best advise i can give anyone is, take the Dragon slow, and open her up on the Cherohala that road is where you will have the most fun!!!!!!!

Yeah I live pretty much 15 minutes away also. I'm proof it WILL eat your lunch. I spent a week in Blount Memorial Hospital in 05 after totalling my CBR 1000. The problem is I used to ride it twice a week normally 5-7am before traffic when fog permitted and you start to become numb to the very small room for errors there is. Its like everything else us tertosterone missiles do the more you do something the better you get, the easier it seems and your telling yourself yes I'm riding within my limits and so what if I'm draggin' knees I'm not going all that fast and Wammo! reality strikes. Seriously sorry to ramble and its got to be the best sportbike road in America and a Mad Must as they say but be very aware cause a simple front tuck in the wrong place is quite a hard lesson learned. Also Cherohala is fantastic also.

I live in Madisonville, but I am traveling a lot lately. FAll is the best time to ride back home, and I'm missing out... its killing me.

We run The Dragon a lot. Just up there a couple of weeks ago. Good advice already posted in this thread about the Dragon, but also watch out for SR28 running south from the Deals Gap store. That one has acccounted for a number of deaths already this year. The last one was just about 2 weeks ago, when a trike failed to negotiate a hard, downhill lefthander about 1/2 mile south of the store. Killed the rider, put his wife in the hospital. Speaking of which, pay particular attention to the 10mph lefthander about 3-4 miles south of the store on SR28. I had a squid overshoot the centerline 2 weeks ago and I actually had to duck to his inside (still in my lane) to avoid him. Don't worry, you'll know the turn when you find it...

The Dragon, the Cherohala, SR28 and other roads are great, but you need to pay attention and respect them, because others don't and won't. Have fun and stay safe!

My wife on the Dragon, earlier this year...

you wont see snow in Oct there... If there is it will be huge news...OCT/ Nov is the best time to ride in Tennessee my opinion.
