Depending on where you are you start by interviewing your parents , grandparents, find out everything you can about adoptions, relatives, ancestors, origins, last names , marriages, where people lived and where that immigrated from. You go to the town offices and request records you visit graves you locate old addresses and look through photos,. You begin going back starting with your parents and their parents and branch out. you can visit the countries of orig ion. For Example our family has one, that our uncle did, we are a small part Scottish through my adopted great grandmother my uncle visited the area and found out all about the Crest and such . We descend from 7-8 different cultures so there was a lot of work. It is detective work. There is a web-site and remember many last names were altered when coming to America, if that is where you live. It seems like a lot the one thing it takes is genuine interest . They also have completed ones on-line for purchase but they do not speak to your immediate family.
