Dogs Riding in Bicycle Baskets?

Do you have a problem with dogs riding in bicycle baskets? I recently started putting my 10 lb chihuahua dachshund mix in my basket....she loves it! She lies down and enjoys the trip. I would hate for some people to see me as cruel for doing this...but she loves it! For a dog who is scared of almost anything....this is one thing she is completely comfortable doing. I only ride slowly and never jump or go off curbs with her in the basket.
She never attempts to jump out...and I exercise her also...
 
I don't think it's dangerous at all. It's not cruel.
There's an old Collie who rides on it's elderly owners electric scooter thing.
 
Just be careful. When my jack russell was little I put him my bike basket and he was just fine that is until he got to big and had to jog along side of me

I don't really see a problem with it unless you don't give her an opportunity to exercise at all, or are not making sure that she is secure in the basket.
If you're going slow anyways, maybe letting her run alongside your bike until she tires would be an idea? Then put her in the basket after.
