I have an 8mo. old yellow lab puppy who is in love with snow, he is close to 70lbs(no he is not fat) but he is not an infant pup. Now, i realize that labs have an undercoat, but when i take him out in the snow to play he doesn't want to come in i have to pretty much catch him and almost drag him in the house to make him come in after about 90mins. of outside play which btw is way too much for my enjoyment, i try to coax him with toys, treats etc. but he runs the other way & never wants to come in the house in a reasonable time frame, i would say 20minutes a few times a day due to the cold, is it even safe for him to be out that long 90mins at 1 time in teens and 20'sF weather? i know he is a pup and has alot of energy but cold is cold!!

I would think that is he enjoys it he's fine. My husky loves the cold weather, but when she wants to come in she sits at the door and whacks at it with her paw.

What is your question?

Labs LOVE to romp, and if there's something to romp in, like snow, they're ecstatic! Let him play!

He is fine to stay out and play as long as he is comfortable!!!! They retrieve in cold water!!!!! It is you that must adjust!!!!

We have Newfs and spend a LOT of time outside with them in the winter. We invested ina lot of good outerwear and such. If you cannot tolerate 90 min out in the cold, then do smaller amounts of time, but you will have to do more. Labs are very high energy, so he needs to get this exercise!!!
