Dog's Dying...

I'm not sure exactly why I'm posting this and wasting people's time .. but I figure talking about just about anything can make things better somehow.
I just found out we're going to have to put my dog down after living with her for ... my entire life. I've never had anyone or anything close to me just go away and die, so I have no 'coping' experience, and no I'm not expecting sympathy as this is probably nothing to many of you when compared to other problems. I know it's not like I'm losing a parent or something, but this dog has been like a best friend ever since I can remember. I literally can't remember any part of my life without her. She has tumors on her face and sores growing on top of the tumors. We figured she might have a month left, but after finding blood and scabs in her water bowl it will probably be by the end of the week. I'm sure most people would just get a new puppy and whatever, but my rents wont do it as I will be going to college in the next few years. Well anyone who read thanks I'll be attempting to enjoy the last couple days and .. even though like I said it's not like she's a relative or something but still a big loss for me. :frown:

don't really remember what it's like to lose a dog. we put our last dog down when i was 9 years old. ever since then, we had cats. most of them died. now we have one.

dude i hear you... i understand... I had to put my dog down a year or so ago. i was soo close to him. it was like loosing my best friend... im sorry and good luck :-(

My dog (the only dog I've ever had, who I can't imagine living without) is now 9 years old. I have no idea what it will feel like, but I know it's going to be soon and it's going to hurt. I'm sorry that your dog is dying, and I'm sorry that dogs have to die at all...

 :thumbsdn: I wish you... and your dog... the best of luck.

A dog is just not a dog ,they are very smart animals and a man's best friend.I had to put one of my dogs down a couple years ago and it was the hardest thing i had to do.But think of it this way,No more pain and suffering and he/she will be better off if you end there pain rather than suffer. They don't deserve to suffer,no one does

Oh, man I'm sorry. You have my sympathy. I know what it's like to go through that with both family members and pets (4 grandparents, Dad,extended family members, 2 dogs and several cats)
Be strong and show your dog lots of love for it's remaing time here.

When I was in middle school I had two dogs that BOTH died of cancer. They both had a tumer the size of a softball on the same leg. It was so sad.
