Hi,

My names John. I have bipolar disorder with racing thoughts and anxiety as accompanying features. Here is a subset of questions to file under my title question.

1. Do you have trouble remerabering that your thoughts are NOT transparent? Do you feel anxious that people know your thoughts or anxiety over what would happen if they did, especially out of context?

2. Do you find that your anxiety can be caused by "manufactured" thoughts? Do you find that your mind can toss together some disturbing images, almost as it was dared, to get you worked up?

3. Finally, do you take every thought as being a reflection on who you are, no matter how outlandish or removed from reality they are?

I havent been on the boarRAB in a while but I hoped I could get some relief by expressing my anxiety on this forum. Thanks for listening.

John

Hi there John,
I do believe that your mind can provoke you into getting a panic attack or making one worse. It's all in your head tho ~ that's why we avoid certain places or doing certain things so we don't get another attack. I believe I suffer from a bit of ovd which contributes to the anxiety. I don't believe that every thought is a reflection of who we are. Sometimes we just think the most random things but it doesn't mean anything most of the time.
Are you taking anything for your anxiety or panic attacks? Or bipolar disorder? Therapy at all? I find it's very easy to fuel the fire or so to speak with anxiety so it becomes worse.
I hope this somewhat helped. Take care of yourself and remeraber ~ there is a way to get past this!

Thanks to everyone. Id forgotten about this resource and how helpful its merabers could be. Im glad I thought of you in this instance. I do see a psychiatrist and a therapist. I take medicine. But those are only some of the weapons in my arsenal that I rely on. The advice I received here and the support of loved ones has carried me through yet another rough patch. Thanks again.

John

No worries John, glad you went thru a rough patch smoothly. Other ways of adding more to your arsenal is some self help books and some relaxation /meditation techniques. That may help. It can be quite difficult to quiet the mind at first but I've heard alot of people had made progress of this.
If you don't mind ~ what are some of your racing thoughts and do you take any medication specifically for your anxiety?
Always here listen.
Am super glad you're doing better!
