Does your love of reading inspire you to want to become an author?

Just curious. For all of you who love to read ~ are you satisfied with reading other people's works? Or does reading inspire you to want to try to write your own stories? How many of you have tried writing?

I love reading, and I do feel inspired when I read books that I enjoy.
Although, I haven't actually tried to sit down and write a book in ages. I did a few years ago, but never got around to finishing it because it wasn't original.
That can be another problem, thinking of a completely original story.

It depends on how good the book is.

If it's fantastic, I'm normally too breathless and absorbed to even think about writing beyond "I wish I wrote this!"

Anything below that inspires me to write. Novels I don't like inspire me to try and write a similar thing in a way which I would enjoy. Ones I do like, I often play around trying to sound like the author. It's all in good fun :)

I've always loved reading and have been writing since i was 14. My year 8 english teacher told me i had a certain aptitude for it, and it gave me the inspiration to branch out and write different things. I've never done anything with my writings, they're just for me, to get my little creative bugs out. =D
Some books inspire me to write in a certain genre, or to have a similar character. But most of my inspirations come from my daydreams about what i wish the world could be like, then i warp it into a story.

I love to read, it's one of my favorite things to do . . . who doesn't love it?
And I definitely enjoy writing, im a writing maniac and my readings have inspired me to write more. But some of my friends have a wider variety of genres that they enjoy reading, whereas i like only certain types of genres and books.
My love for different genres is slowly expanding though, but i still enjoy some more than others.
But the people that i know who read more than me aren't interested in writing at all... its strange

i guess some people are happy with just reading other peoples work... but i always need just a little more.
