Does your car use up gas when you put it in auxiliary or battery mode?

(Without AC Only Radio is ON)? If you put your car in AUX mode when it is off ( to turn on the radio ) does it use any gas? or does it just use gas when it is on start mode?
I made a bet with a friend who claims that when you put a car in AUX mode, it uses up a little amount of gasoline to fill the cylinders so that the car may start when you turn it to ignition. I think he means when you put it in start mode (before ignition). Who is correct?

If the engine is off there is no gasoline used. However, If you run your battery low, upon restart the engine will use more gas to run the alternator which charges the battery. (it's a very small amount of gas though.)
