Does verizon force you to pay a data plan like AT&T?

I'm thinking about switching to AT&T but I don't want my bill to go up. Right now with AT&T I pay 85 a month I want to go to verizon and get a blackberry what's the lowest possible bill I will be paying
 
Yes, for a Blackberry or other SMART phones. According to the clerks at a Verizon store near me, phones like that are designed to access the internet like constantly and it works out cheaper to have the data plan. If you get a regular phone that't NOT a smart phone (they can tell you which phones don't require the plan) you won't have to pay for the data plan.

It depends. What are you paying the 85 for now?
if you want to use data on a blackberry, all carriers make you pay $30 a month for it. So if you arent paying for data rright now, your bill will go up to 115 a month.
If you get a blackberry and dont get a data plan, you have to pay the full price for the phone.
